Very nice bike
The bike is very nice, it is sturdy and of good quality, nice to ride also. I must say that the instructions are a little confusing and there is a part that I can't figure out where to install, I think it is supposed to be a water bottle holder, the only complaint I have is there is no foot stand, why doesn't it come with a foot stand??? How am I supposed to get the bike to stay up? I think that is much more useful than a water bottle holder. Now I have to purchase a separate foot stand for the bike. It does not make any sense.

Great bike for the money
UPS gets one star for delivery. But the bike finally arrived today. Assembly is not that difficult. The only problem is that the manual is not made for a partial assembly. You will have to adjust the handlebar after you put it in. Don't mess with the gears or brakes, just adjust the angle of the entire handlebar. Getting the front tire on is pretty standard. You will have to undo the wire by the front brakes... push it in to release (just watch a youtube video if you can't figure this part out). The rest of the assembly (seat and pedals) is a piece of cake. There's a black horseshoe shaped metal piece that other reviewers have mentioned. It is a gear guard... don't really need it. Just get a kickstand for the bike. Bike is SOLID. And looks great. My only complaint about the bike is that the gear shifters are really hard to turn and are not very smooth shifting. I'm aware that it's a $200 bike and I am hoping this will improve over time so I will keep my review at 5 stars.

Worth the Price But Not an Amazing Deal
All in all it's a good buy and my daughter is very happy with it. You do need some bicycle wrenching experience, not much. If you have none, or a friend with some, it's not for you. Go old fashion and buy form your local bike shop. 1. The V brakes were set a bit open probably to make it easy for the non-experienced to mount the wheels. However, this also means a long pull on the break lever before the break pads bite. I adjusted the cable on the V brake or there is a tiny screw in each lever that can help with that and also bring the lever closer to the handlebar for kids with smaller hands, you just need to know about it. The adjustment is easy if you are experienced but if not. Well, it's your kids breaks. 2. During the first moderate climb (even for a kid) the handle bar rotated backwards inside it's clamp (not sideways relative to the front wheel). I recall double checking it while assembling the bike but still took the blame and tightened it as hard as I could with my multi tool that I always have with me. A few days later, after a somewhat harder climb I noticed the same thing. This time, after getting back home I tightened it with a full size wrench as hard as I could without destroying the thread. So far so good but again, if you don't have bicycle wrenching experience, well it's your kids steering. 3. The shifter of the front chain rings (left side) is on the low quality side. It has no numbers making it a bit challenging to teach a kid how and when to shift the front chainrings. Also, after a few rides the front derailleur needed a slight adjustment which is very typical to any bike but when you buy online you don't have the local shop who will do it for you for free. Again, it's a nothing if you know how to do it. All in all it's a good bike, worth the price and way better then what you will find in the department stores. Personally, if I'd have to buy a kids bike again, I'd spend another $100 and get something slightly better. And, if you don't have some bicycle wrenching experience, I'd advise going old fashion and buying form your local bike shop. But, please don't tell that to my daughter, she is very happy (and safe after minor adjustments) and that is all that counts.

Terrible instructions but nice bike
We just received the bike yesterday. The instructions are a joke! The technical writer should be fired!!!! If I had half decent instructions I could of assembled it in no time but because of the lack of, it took much longer than it should of. I’m pretty put off by it because its a simple thing to include with a bike you have to put together yourself. I would give it 0 stars for this if I could. The bike itself is great. So far so good. No complaints and it looks nice. If that changes in the future I’ll update my review.

Seems great - but tire won't hold air
Bike seems great, but the front tire won't hold air. Assembled the bike relatively easily (thank God for YouTube). My daughter rode it around the driveway one afternoon. The next morning, the front tire was flat. So we had to take the tire off, take the tube out and try to find the leak - which we thought we had. Repaired the leak; put the tube back in the tire; the tire back on the bike; and ... it still won't hold air! So, now we will be completely replacing the tube and going through the whole process again. We've learned a bit about bike assembly and repair during this process. Hopefully, my daughter will be riding freely sooner rather than later.

Great bike for my 9-year-old
My husband and I both have diamondback bikes and decided to buy this one for my daughter's 9th birthday. There was some assembly required and no directions included, but I was still able to get it put together easily enough. My daughter absolutely loved it when we surprised her with it. She rode it for the first time today. We live in northern Minnesota so it's still chilly (40° today) and the dirt road was really sloppy, but the bike handled it all great! She still loves it and can't wait until the snow is gone.

Obviously no final inspection before it left the store
It was easy I assembly just like the other bike in ordered from a different site; however the front brake cable is broken in two spots. The cable wasn't connected to the brake lever at all, I assembled that portion myself. When properly built, this cable is encompassed by two types of covers and has a metal deicd that crimps the two rules of materials together. This metal crimp in device goes from the hard cover to a flexible one, allowing for the cable to tighten and cause both rubber stoppers to close around the front wheel when the brake lever is squeezed.th crimp was broken as the cable didn't even connect both rubber stoppers to one another. This is NOT part of the responsibility of the person assembling the bike. I have the same one from another Amazon store as it was not broken. Now, since I bought this for the kids for Christmas and it's been too cold to ride/assemble, I've missed the return window and have to take this bike to a repair shop to make it functional. For that reason, I rated it low in easy to assemble as value do the money. I'm disappointed and won't but from this store again. Obviously, there was no INSPECTON done before leaving the assembly plant.

Great bike
Great sturdy bike. Amazing quality for the price. I have it to my 10 year old for her birthday. She is loves it and has room to grow. For those wondering about the "spare" part, it's a rear derailer guard. For those kids that toss the bike down on the lawn when their finished with it. I bought the aftermarket kickstand most others bought on here. Works great. If in doubt when assembling call the 1-800 number in the assembly booklet, super helpful and knowledgeable.
