Outstanding product!
I have a new SP101 9mm revolver, and I ordered these grips to replace the factory rubber grips. The factory grips were absolutely terrible with the recoil impulse beating up the knuckle on my middle finger. I have medium to large hands, and the Pachmayr Renegade wood grips change the grip angle just enough so your knuckle doesn't get clobbered by the trigger guard during recoil. The fit and finish is excellent and didn't require any fitting. I'm totally pleased with the product. They are a bit longer and fatter than the factory grips, but that was perfect for my hands.

poor quality, poor fit, poor purchase
Pachmayr is no longer a company to be trusted - it now makes its products in an offshore, totalitarian Asian country - charlie india november alpha, and this set of grips is a perfect example of low-cost manufacturing and the demise in quality that used to be associated with an American company... This grip demonstrates:1. poor fit - grips would not fit onto a standard SP101 without removal of a lot of material2. poor alignment - included screw would not thread through a required aluminum insert3. poor engineering and tolerances - screw was misaligned for receiving half of grips4. poor materials - included grip screw is soft metal, not case-hardened steel as should be required - the screw will not last more than a dozen grip removals/cleaning sessionsi will no longer buy any Pachmayr product - beware that Pachmayr is also part of the following:LymanA-ZoomButch'sTacStar

Look great but bring a chisel
These grips are beautiful and the seller did a good job. I have to take away one star though because the grips do not fit as they come from the factory. Some woodworking with a hammer and chisel will be required, and that’s a disappointment.I also want to point out that the grips are quite a bit wider than the stock grips which are rubber w/inserts. I was hoping for a smaller 'boot' or 'combat' grip, and you can not tell from an online photo...so be advised. And, this actually may end up working in my favor.I personally love the rosewood and stainless look, as well as a smooth grip that won't catch on clothing. So far, so good. However, keep in mind that the SP101 is essentially a J-frame chambered in the very potent .357 calibre [I know, a bit heavier, but darned close]. The stock rubber grips help quite a bit to tame recoil, and these all-wood grips attempt to do this by spreading the force over a wider backstrap area. Once I get around to fitting the grips we'll see how well this works.

Exactly what I wanted.
This is a fantastic alternative to $100 grips. In my opinion Pachmayr has been behind the times for a while now. They have stepped up with these. I had Hogue monogrips on this before. I carry this gun everyday I like the rosewood better. These are a little thicker than Hogue.

Nice upgrade but read body of review
Had to whittle the channel out on one panel because it was a bit too tight. These are laminates and hard as rocks so they should hold up well and they look nice.Because of the tight fit it was tough to get bot panels aligned and the screw started.Because of the shape of the screw head it tended to cam the screwdriver out of the slot.Would be better to use a torx head or hex head bolt. After some time, noticed the panels wiggled a little and when I tried to tighten the screw it totally got boogered and looked like hell.Turns out that after some investigation the screwhole in one panel is in the wrong place and cause the screw to go in at an angle and bind up.A search for a new screw turned up an M4 x25mm Phillips screw but the misplaced hole is still problematic. These were cheap and I still like them but this is entirely too much drama over a simple thing.

My excitement was short lived.
I ordered this item and was excited to receive the package a day early, but my excitement was short lived. The first thing that stood out was that I ordered the grips with checkering, but received ones with no checkering at all. Bummer, but hey, the workmanship is so nice and it felt so good-in-hand, that I decided keep them. which brings me to bummer number two. The grips I received are for a Smith and Wesson not a Ruger. Everything on the box says S&W J,K,L and N frames with a little sticker that contradicts the manufacturer. the sticker says it's for a Ruger, but upon close inspection there is no way to make this grip fit.Update: sent back the grips and received the correct ones. outstanding fit and finish. feels good-in-hand. very happy with this purchase. so I have changed my star rating from one to four. and thankyou for the excellent customer support.

Current grip is rubber Pachmayr Compac which I like. These grips are nicely finished but one panel ...
Wanted wood grips for my 4 inch SP101 but not many choices. Current grip is rubber Pachmayr Compac which I like. These grips are nicely finished but one panel required some inside trim with a file before it fit. Easy job. Not all gun grip frames are identical and some tolerance differences are to be expected among various specimens. They fit the gun tight without movement. I like how they feel. They cover the back strap, are not too fat or too long and the finger grooves are modest. Laminated wood can be sanded and re-finished very easily. These grips clear speed loaders just fine. For the price they're a bargain.

I like these grips
These are good grips. A small amount of fitting is required. Just carefully shave the wood where it does not fit until it slides onto the frame. No problem. The two halves match up fairly well. No seam at all on parts of the juncture. At the range, these absorbed the recoil quite well. Standard pressure, plus p and magnum. Easy to hold on to. And the slipperiness of the new grips goes away with use.I put this same brand of grips on an s and w airweight. Recoil is the biggest problem with air weights, but these grips tamed the recoil right down. I think it is because you can get your whole hand around the grip of the gun.Anyway, I like these grips.
