BoloPick Felt Picks for Ukulele 6 Pack (Da Rocking Robin)

This appears to be a great felt pick that produces the sound I want and much thinner than ones I have had in the past. This produces a pick that is not only good for strumming but allows me to pick strings easily. Have only used for a few days but is holding up great so far.

Musicians can be particular about certain aspects of their tools. Strings, necks, instrument bodies, woods, etc.Picks are up there with the rest. Good thing about picks, they‘re relatively inexpensive to experiment with asyou journey toward your ‘tone’ and playing style.I purchased the BoloPick synthetic felt picks because they were advertised as being “softer and smaller thantypical felt picks”. I wanted a felt pick with more flex and thought this product could be the one. I was right onpicking the Bolos, but first some rudimentary dimensions.-- BoloPick Synthetic Felt Pick Stats --------------------------------------~ Width: 1-1/8 inch~ Length: 1-1/4 inch~ Thickness: 1/8 inchMy Other felt picks are the same exact-sized, are hard, and ‘Real-felt’ picks. But, they are really too stiff andinflexible for my taste. So much so that if you attempt to bend them they will snap. An advantage to a hardReal-felt pick is that it produces a softer sound than a plastic or nylon pick but you still get the quick attack ofa hard pick. So that’s good, right? Yeah, depends on what your style of playing.The Others being as big as they are and so stiff there is little play when strumming the uke. The hard stiff feltpicks are great for single string picking, or leads, but it feels like there is a piece of metal between my fingerswhen I play. They just don’t feel right in my hand. If they were smaller there might be a compromise there forsome lead playing.The Bolo synthetic felt picks are the same exact thickness as my Other Stiff Real-felt picks. Difference is theBolos give nicely and feel good between my fingers when I strum. The grip is just as good as Other uke feltpicks but I still get the soft sound on those uke strings. The Bolo pick feels less cumbersome and much morecomfortable than the Other Real-felt pick.So if you are used to having a little give, or bend, in your picks the Bolo picks are the ones for you. I would saythey remind me of a medium gauge nylon pick, about 70mm thick. Enough give to allow a faster easier strumand stiff enough to allow some picking and grinning.When Bolo says they are 'synthetic' I don’t know exactly what that means. Just that they are not real felt, as faras I can go with the hypothesis. Real felt is a combo of fabrics compressed together. The Other felt picks I ownare made of cotton and wool and are stiff as a board. So I am okay going non-organic with the ‘synthetic felt’pick because they are what works well for me.5 Stars for my find of the month due to its nice response, great feel between the fingers and a softer uke sound.The Others are just not my style but if you want a slightly louder sound and be able to pick the strings then gofor the stiff hard unyielding felt pick. It’s all personal. Just have fun doing it.

Felt good between fingers

These are nice and sound soo good but sometimes they can be a little slippery. You get a lot of use out of one before it goes soft and becomes flimsy I love how loud and clear it makes the notes

They feel great and work well. Can't ask for anything more.

These were recommended by my son’s ukulele teacher. They work well and sound great! A warm, full tone is heard.

I never used felt picks as I am not a Ukulele player. That said, not long ago I picked up a Seagull Merlin (kind of a cross between a guitar and a dulcimer.. think banjo-like on the sound spectrum) and I was told that I should try a felt pick. I disregarded the advice at first and figured I would use my picks I have laying around for my acoustic and electric guitars, or just play with my fingers like with my classical nylon. Well, I was putting in an order for something else on Amazon and figured I would throw these in the cart as an inexpensive experiment.I should have listened to the advice earlier. These felt picks are soft, but bring out a very pleasing sound from the Seagull Merlin. No more harsh pick-slap on the strings, just pure tone. Plus, since the strings are very close to the top of this instrument, I had to be aware of trying not to dig in to deep and scratch the wood top. Now, though, I can wail away with no worries.. hit the top? Who cares.. it's felt, it won't do a thing to the top wood!Love these picks for the instrument I bought them for and have a feeling these will make it into my cart again in the future.

I was concerned about the thickness and sturdiness / flexibility of this plectrum, but after using one for a few days, it exceeds my expectations. The plectrum is easy to hold and makes my banjo ukulele strumming sound a bit softer, much more even, and a lot more pleasant, instead of the clanging and loud sounds I have made on the instrument when playing an upbeat tune. :) And now, I can pick notes with the plectrum instead of trying to use my fingers that sometimes touch the string next to the one I am aiming to pick. So happy I took a chance and made the purchase!

I find them to soft and flexy.

Too thin and not durable. Used one for practice and it became flimsy after short use. Will not buy again.

My husband wanted these and I was a bit dubious about ordering from USA. They arrived this morning, only 3 days from date of order and he is very pleased with the picks. So am I, his ukelele sound is much nicer with them!

These are accessed from the USA and take forever to arrive. Also, although the lot is nice and colorful, one would wish for a different gauges, similar to guitar picks.
