Works Great! Aoyue 8486
Works really well. Not too loud and easy to adjust the suction strength. I think a lot of the people who complained about no suction forgot to take the plastic off the filters inside of the device...I use it for soldering DIY electronics and it really gets rid of all the fume smells!Pros:- Good suction- High quality feeling- Pretty quiet- Small form factor- Filter is very effective. No smells in my room or fumes in my lungsCons:- Cant order replacement filters easily (or at all??)- Hard to position the nozzle. The removeable attachment at the end of the tube is silicone and too heavy for the tube. Often times the tube will not hold its position if fully extended. Otherwise works great if the attachment is removed.- Tube is a bit short for my liking

No more headaches!
So, I'm very new to soldering and didn't realize solder fumes are bad for you. The first time I did a project I had a terrible headache afterwards! I immediately looked for a fume extractor haha! The size is perfect and the top part can contort to exactly where you're working. It's very quiet and built well! I have not had any headaches since purchasing it! Do yourself a favor and pick one up!

terrible not enough suction even with some filters removed.
terrible not enough suction even with some filters removed. I put the inlet hose within 3 inches of work and it collected very few fumes.

Just what I needed
I make jewelry and wanted a way to keep fumes out of the studio without sending them out the opened window and into atmosphere. (There are citywide restrictions on exhaust fumes) This works fine for my bench. Not very big so I can handily fit it on the bench top and suck filings, solder and pickle fumes, debris away from my lungs. The hose is a bit weak when extended but easy to maneuver. I just put something under it to prop it in place, no biggie. Really happy with this and can easily adjust the suction volume. Worth buying.

It's decent but . . .
Nice foot print and quiet. Suction is ok and price doesn't break the bank, but expected more for the money. That is the tube does NOT hold form if extended too far or out from the base unit. The way the tube is designed is good but again the tube will not hold form if you do not let enough tube stay coiled into the base otherwise if you extend it too far it will slowly droop down - not good. It does ok PROVIDING you do not extend the tube way out. If it wasn't for the tube I'd probably give it a strong 4 or maybe a 5. Also requested Amazon reach out to the company that sold it to me and I never heard back in a reasonable time frame, so this lack of contacting me back stops me from doing business again. If you do not mind the tube not being able to extend to its capacity then it will do ok. Most want a good looking device/box that works well, and it does do ok, but I wish the tube didn't droop when extending it way out without me having to pull the box closer to my soldering.

This thing sucks. And not like it’s supposed to.
I’ll keep it short. The rings around the tube are 3d printed. It has about zero suction power even on full blast. You have to have the tube right over what you are working on to get it to do it job. And the tube can hold its own weight it just flops. Take a pass on this one guys.

This equipment sucks or not
I have the hood as close to the circuit board and still be able to view my soldering. The fumes still are in my face. This hood is not powerful enough to suck the fumes away. Get an inexpensive Amazon Basics 15-Inch Air Circulator Desk Fan to blow the fumes away.
