This is a great measuring tool for lathe work

I am a wood turner i wanted one if works handy rugged easy to read

The tool works as it is supposed to, but the metal bends easily. Make sure to hang it in a place where you won't bend it. However, it works well and is much cheaper than other brands.

Some of the other reviews said that this item was not a very good product. I am not sure what they are doing with it but this tool does exactly what it is supposed to do. I turn many items on my lathe and use this tool frequently without any problem at all.

When turning bowls, on a lathe these work perfectly to show you the thickness, and especially to establish a consistent sickness.Really do like them very simple. Easy to use.

Striving for very thin walls on an enclosed and covered wooden vessel I was turning for an artist friend I finally decided to buy and try using this in lieu of the usual and various other calipers I had been using. How in the world did I ever get along without this nicely made and very affordable set of calipers! The two ends on my set matched perfectly when closed so there wasn't a need to even use a small fraction of an offset when checking my piece. I've only recently started turning enclosed and walled vessels so this is a very worthwhile addition to my wood turning arsenal.

Easy to use. Tension knob is easy to adjust. Glad to finally have one of these next to my lathe. Perfect for getting uniform thickness of bowl walls. I recommend using it with some kind of setup block rather than trying to measure the opening.

Got this today. A little large, 14" from end to end, 7.5" side to side, but no matter. It's 1/8" thick steel. When closed at one end, is 1/16" open on the other, but fixable with a brief touch of a grindstone. Was packed in just a padded bag, no other protection, so the ends were bent out of line vertically, but easily bent back into line. Ends were smoothly rounded. Edges were a little sharp, but usable, I didn't feel the need to sand the edges. Since the steel is rather thin, the center screw is retained by a 1/8" thick threaded washer, 3/4" diameter. I would have liked it to be made of a harder, or thicker steel, but all in all a good tool for woodturning bowls..

This tool does the job, is very well built, and excellent tool for the price !!
