11" tall, 4 1/2" wide This spectacular vase will make a statment and create conversation wherever it is placed in your home...or it will make for a treasured gift for any special occaision. I threw the piece on the wheel with Grolleg porcelain and then burnished it well with a fine terra sigillata before bisque firing. I then coated the piece with ferric chloride and painted orchids on it by a special method taught to me by a dear friend before saggar firing it with various combustible materials to achieve the phenomenal colors and effects. I absoluetly love this process and the elemental qualities and colors it produces! This pot has been sealed with an acrylic sealer for durability and protection. This piece was low fired (the clay did not fully vitrify) so it is not food safe or water tight and should not be left outside in the elements. The wooden base is sold separately for $20.
