Universal Phone Call Recorder Adapter 3.0 (For PC)

Overall a good product, even that I wasnt impressed initially - the package arrived with no assembly instructions, no manual and a small-cd format installation disk, which doesn't work on my PC (it has a slip-in, not a tray, cd-rom). So get an attachable tray type cd-rom if you want to install from the disk. After getting one, installation went smoothly (on Windows Vista). The attached software has an unimpressive interface, for instance doesn't tell you that a current call is being recorded, it just appears after a moment on your call list - but it does the job. Export of calls in .wav format works well, you don't have to install any additional software as said in the instructions. So overall a good product, I'm taking one star out for lack of manual and so-so user interface

Bought 2 (1 for each phone line) records phone calls automatically (you need a computer for each phone line) without flaw. Records both sides of conversation no matter which phone I use. Can record to either line if you use a 2 line phone (you need 2 computers). Lets you write nores to conversation when finished Save files as wav. You can use one machine for 2 phone lines on 1 computer, but you manually have to switch a button from line 1 to 2 on the recorderVery easy to set up and install.

I record a lot of telephone interviews, and have resorted over the years to many cassette decks (including two Marantz models) and digital recorders. I ultimately would up going back with cassettes, which although archaic do the job and are reliable. Unfortunately, cassette recorders available today designed for over-the-phone recording are of poor quality. Fortunately, this product does precisely what it is supposed to, its software lets you convert its native .xtr files to .wav files (so you can play them back on any player), and except for one small box eliminates the hardware issue. A good choice.

Having used a series of tape recorders over the years with the chore of tape logging and changing never mind the time spent in checking when required on seeing this PC connected device I gave it a try. Wonderful. More clearly saves the conversations than hearing them on the hand set. Am ordering another.
