It's the Standard Codebook.
You need it. Get it. Learn it. Use it. Just make sure that it is compatible with whatever courses you are taking. If your curriculum says "2012" on it anywhere (as was the case with my other AHIMA materials), then use the 2012 CPT codebook. Newbies should pay particular attention to the fact that CPT codes ARE NOT ALWAYS IN NUMERICAL SEQUENCE, as they are in all of the ICD systems.

Expensive Necessity
The latest procedure coding book for psychiatric services is the 2013 CPT Standard Edition published by the AMA. Most procedure codes are changing come January 1, 2013. I sprang for the heavy volume so I could consult it as needed rather than rely on the abbreviated "crosswalks" that have been shared among colleagues. This is a good resource, but it seems very overpriced to me. But, such as life. One doesn't buy these often in one's career, so have at it. If you bill insurance companies for your services, or if you keep detailed records, and we all should, you need the correct codes. Enough said.

Loved it!
This was the paperback edition, also known as the draft edition. I saved a bundle of money by buying this version. The rest of the class had the colored, spiral-bound edition with pictures, etc. This book had everything in it that I needed to ace my class and was a lot lighter. Because I bought it in August, I had to replace it in January (175 changes/updates). So glad I bought the paperback version!!! Shipped quickly and in great shape.

As stated
Arrived quickly but books cover was bent a little bit. Good price and content for medical billing and coding

Useful but Disappointing
The book itself is good If you are doing this for work its better to purchase the professional spiral bound version its tabs are color coded and its easier to search for codes without holding the book open with both hands. **However the quality of the book I received has a large ink blot from the printing, blocking out some of the codes and terms I need. So it needs to go back. Its really disappointing as this is for a class that I started 2 days ago and I need to wait till I receive the replacement to send it back putting me out of money until I do

CPT 2013
I used this book for a coding course I took this spring. I enjoyed learning about CPT coding. I would recommend to students who wish to pursue a career in just CPT.

the infamous CPT guide
pretty self explanatory book. If you need to know cpt codes this book is it. there are a few explanations about how icd-10 will effect codes which was nice

Much cheaper thru Amazon
I have to purchase 4 of these every year. I'm not sure where Amazon get's these, but they are $5.00 to $15.00 cheaper per book than other vendors. There is no difference in the quality of the book, so I'm happy to save $20 to $60 each year.
