Great for amaranth and other small grains!
This is a great little strainer. I bought it specifically to use with amaranth, and it did not disappoint! The two pictures show the amaranth while I'm rinsing it and afterwards. No grains were lost while I was rinsing it. The edge of the strainer is sealed so there is no way for the seeds to get lodged in the strainer when you're emptying it. I just used a spatula to get the seeds out of the strainer, and the few that were left I actually use my fingers to try and get each one because they're tiny. I think it would easily hold two cups of other grains, in this picture there is one cup of amaranth. It floats easily so I didn't want it to overflow when I added the water. the handle seems nice and sturdy it had no trouble holding the amaranth or the Millet that I rinsed. If you have a regular sink you would probably be able to suspend the basket on one side of the sink, mine is an oversized sink, it fit but could easily have slid off the edge so I just held it. The mesh itself seems sturdy enough and does not Flex if I put a little pressure on it, that being said I feel you could crush it if you threw something heavy on top of it so just be careful. After cleaning it, the water seems to stay in the mesh, but if you stand it on end or hang it, it drips out just fine. This strainer measures 8" across the top and is approximately 2 and 3/4 inch deep . Thank you for a great product!

Finally a well made strainer like the old days...
I was searching and searching for a strainer that I could use to #1 sift flour (it's a pain taking out my flour sifter from a higher cabinet) and #2 that is easy to use and sturdy.I used this to sift whole wheat pastry flour. It sifted it so well it left the whole wheat particles behind. Since that's why I used whole wheat flour to begin with I just dumped them back into the flour. The handle is very sturdy and the mesh seems to be well made. I love that it doesn't have a million seams on the edge that everything gets caught in...But, on the other hand, because the mesh is so fine it does take a little extra time to clean it. I think it's worth the trade off since I now have strainer that I will have for quite a while. It's he perfect size for multi use....Fits my needs perfectly.

Quality Product
This handheld strainer is extremely well made. No seams, strong & sturdy mesh and the handle solid. We needed this larger size and quite an upgrade quality wise from the two smaller strainers we already have. Highly recommend this product for purchase.

Sturdy, handy strainer
I really like this strainer. It seems well made and one of the reasons I chose it was because of the handle. It makes it easy to grip the strainer. Worked like a charm when I wanted to strain some cooked chickpea based rice. I can see that it's going to be a utensil I reach for often to strain things.

very fine strainer
I needed this strainer because I cook various fine foods like quinoa. This I felt was a good price. The materials used produce a sturdy strainer that should hold up for a long time. It comes with a great warranty. I had trouble registering it and the company got right back to me with my product registered. Very good service.

Love this strainer
This is a very nice strainer, well made and looks great. It 's a nice addition to my other sized strainers and this is my go to size for most tasks in my kitchen that calls for a strainer. I was happy seeing that is is so well made.

Good but might scratch pots
It’s a good product but I ended up purchasing another that was a bit smaller and had silicone at the ends to protect my pots.

Excellent construction
I have been putting this through its paces and it is holding up perfectly. Easy to clean, with a little extra attention needed around where mesh and frame meet (same would be true of any other sieve). I have been hand washing and not putting it in dishwasher.

Well made fine sieve suitable for Amaranth seeds
Well made sieve shipped and arrived quickly. The mesh is 32 holes per inch, fine enough to rinse amaranth seeds, which are much smaller than quinoa. I bought this specifically to rinse amaranth and quinoa and am happy that I no longer lose seeds down the drain.Mesh is stiff and retains shape well. It is rounded with a flattened bottom. Solid metal ring around the top holds the mesh and slopes inwards so that anything striking the sieve from the top falls into it.The handle is very solid stiff metal wire with a comfortable polyethylene plastic cover. The handle feels and looks sturdy and there are two spot welds per side (two at each point where the wire handle attaches to the sieve).I gave this 4 for value because it is costly, but one of the few that I could find that is fine enough for amaranth.
