Stepping Up: A Call to Courageous Manhood

I love the great advice it had for a Christan man attempting to raise a young family with regards to your kids. My kids are actually grown but many of the directions and intentional steps would have been most helpful to me in those years. I wish I had read this book before I met through those years! I also liked how it broke down the different stages of life and how we can continue to be the eyes and hands of God during these years. My Dad is 80 yers old, i sometimes feel that he is withdrawn from life and feels like there is no use for him or Mom anymore. The patriarch section has given me some ideas of how to attempt to bring him back into the role of leader of our family.it has also given me good ideas of how to flow into my next phase in life and to keep fighting the good fight, and persevere for Gods glory! It was a wonderful read, thank you for the great insight!!!

Definitely a must read for men who want more out of their relationships. Whether it is their relationship with their wife, coworkers, or just hanging out with the guys. This book is a "call to arms" so to speak to those of us who have been searching for significance in the everyday "doings" of lives. As men of God, and created in His image, we are called to much more than just living out our lives for ourselves. We are called to "Step Up" and be the men we were born to be. Easily understood, easily applicable, it's even written in sections or "levels" of development for crying out loud. I am not the same man I was going into this book. I can't say enough about it. Read it for yourself, and you'll know what I'm talking about. Thank you Mr, Rainey for writing this book. Not just to point out who we should be as men of God, but also who we are created to be. Truly an inspiring book.

Absolutely loved this book and would suggest it to any man of any age at any stage in his life weather they are Christian or not. it’s very moving and powerful . I’m Also going through the video series to it in church group. It explained so much of what was never communicated to me over the years about being a man. It explained some things that now make perfect sense as to what I went through as a young man. There is so much more to being a man than I ever thought there was. If you were to get one book in this world to read to help put an end to generations of family dysfunction read this and let the dysfunction stop with you. I could literally feel God working on me as I read it. Amazing well put together. There is no doubt in my mind that the hand of God was guiding Dennis Rainey as he wrote this book. Wow.

"Stepping Up" deserves the highest rating possible as it is a powerful source to explain the need of our nation and our families to once again embrace the Godly values that made it possible to be called One Nation Under God. Dennis Rainey explains the necessity of acknowledging our dependence on our Creator God. He lays out the steps and the priorities men can take to turn us back to a strong nation with the spiritual wisdom necessary to reverse the confusion and narcissism that is so pronounced in our world today.As my husband I read it together as part of our morning devotional, we were so impressed that we wanted to pass it on to the men in our families, six sons and three grandsons. This last purchase was for my grandson, Noah Swindoll, as he graduates from his senior high school year in a Virginia military school where he seemed to thrive, being promoted in leadership faster than any other student the school had ever had attend. I pray that the Lord will encourage Noah, through the reading of "Stepping Up," to pursue truth for every area of his life with a passionate heart.Personally, I am so grateful that God inspired Dennis to take the necessary time and effort required to complete the finished product of this awesome book. Last year, I attended the 10-week study based on this book at a nearby church and felt so inspired that I decided to conduct it at my home church. The leader's kit contained a hard-copy of the book, but since I do most of my reading my my iPad, I purchased the Kindle edition.The book contains numerous anecdotes and insights as to what manhood means. The book moves through childhood and adolence and discusses how to become a man, then move on to mentorship, and finally achieve the status of a patriarch. The only mild criticism I have is that each section starts with a riveting story of courage in action, but the story does not necessarily tie in well with the main topic of the section.The neat part of reading the Kindle edition is the ability to click on the links and go to the references and additional resources.

I was given this books years ago, and when my wife and I started purging our house before a big move we donated it before I ever got around a to reading it.Then I joined a men's group, more like a strong brotherhood, and they were elbows deep reading through it. So, I bought it and launched into it.This book is so important for men to read, I have already thought of a half a dozen people who I will be giving it too with a few places marked from my own reading.It's time to Step Up.

I'm not particularly spiritual because of several reasons but this book just made me re-evaluate how much more rejuvenating my spiritual life as a man can be. It also gave a rough framework on how my life as a son, brother and father can have more impact. Most importantly it talks about legacies. These reasons alone should make anyone want to read this book. This is real wisdom packaged in a book.
