Why?
Pretty expensive compared to other products in that category and I’m unsure why after using it

Good complex bitters for drinks
I don't drink alcoholic beverages very often, and then it's usually a beer or a glass of wine. I ordered these bitters thinking I might make some "mocktails" but that really hasn't happened. I have found that a dropper-full of Barrel Roll orange bitters over ice with ginger ale gives me a nice sippable more complex drink.

Bright citrus flavor
I had a bottle of Woodford orange bitters already, so I pulled that out for a side-by-side comparison. Style-wise, the bottles themselves are quite similar. Barrel Roll seems to be going for that aesthetic instead of choosing to mimic the distinctive Angostura bottle.Smell-wise, the Barrel Roll comes across as straight alcohol. The Woodford has some more aromatics in the scent. The Barrel Roll is 40% alcohol vs. 34% in the Woodford, so that possibly contributes to the difference in smell. To taste, I mixed a dropper of each with a little splash of club soda, to get a better idea of the flavor without anything competing. I went with the Woodford first. It has the classic bitter aromatic profile, with—to my tongue—just the slightest bit of orange. Then I went to the Barrel Roll. The predominant flavor here is a huge hit of citrus, which hides most of the bitterness. The Woodford ingredients are alcohol, natural flavors (orange and gentian root), and water. The Barrel Roll has water, alcohol, orange peel, lemon peel, gentian root, citric acid, and vanilla bean. So just from the ingredients you can see where all the citrus is coming from.I'm sure you can make a great cocktail with this stuff. It tastes pretty good. But you may not be able to swap it straight in for the other bitters on your shelf. So have some fun and experiment. I've been known to add a splash of straight lemon juice to my whiskey, so this will be a good alternative. My local store no longer carries the Woodford, so I don't know what the current price point on it is locally, but the Barrel Roll is about $2.50 cheaper here on Amazon, so it's priced solidly.

Works beautifully in cocktails, mocktails, even an elevated seltzer!
This is definitely a bit of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg – warm spice. I was hoping a bit more cherry would come though but this is bitters after all. : ) I have used it to add to spirits and it makes a nice little pop of flavor. This works very well in mocktails without the alcohol as bitters is what usually makes a mocktail VERY similar to a cocktail. I have even used a few drops in my seltzer I make with my seltzer machine. It works nicely to add a little something to the seltzer. I feel the flavor profile, though, may be geared more towards Autumn or Winter – so I think that is when I will truly enjoy this more. The bottle arrived in good order and is easy to use with the dropper.I hope that you have found my review “helpful”. : ) Enjoy your day! : )

Perfect for learning how to make cocktails
I've wanted to try making cocktails that use bitters for a while, so here was my chance! The bottle is nice, the dropper works well and it added nice flavor to my bourbon and whiskey. I'm going to have a lot of fun with these and adding a bit of extra flavor to my drinks

Great for Old Fashioned!
As a bourbon lover, these bitters are an essential ingredient for my favorite cocktail: the Old Fashioned. A great, authentic orange flavor that’ll add complexity to any cocktail. The lid has a built-in dropper so you can accurately drip the perfect amount into your concoction. I highly recommend these bitters for the cocktail connoisseur!

Yum!
Spiced cherry is pretty tasty. It reminds me of a french toast breakfast when paired with orange juice. It would also be great in cola. Bitters are a fun way to dress up your drink and get rid of beverage boredom. You really just have to experiment with them to figure out what you like. My bottle has an expiration date that is nearly two years away.
