Good insight into prophecy
This book is good insight into19th century scholarship concerning prophecy. I was a little disappointed in that it doesn’t deal with individual passages, but was pleasantly surprised that it give good arguments on why we should give Credence to prophecy in the Bible in general.

Great experience. Find myself sitting with IPAD and highlighters. The language of the late 1800s is very precise and much more "educated" than today. The content, however, is the most important part. Presented by a Jewish convert to Christanity, the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy in Christ is documented. I haven't completed all the lectures yet, there is so much to think about and learn. There is also much value in the implicit context. There is also so much that has simply been accepted as conventional wisdom.

A superior resource for your library.
I first became familiar with Edersheim when I purchased The Life and Times of Jesus the Messiah, hardcover edition. That proved to be an amazing resource book for my modest theology library, and I can't recommend it enough. Buying this book was kind of a no-brainer after becoming familiar with the author's primary work. At present I am probably half way through it - I usually have several books going at once. As with him main work, I enjoy his use of language, written in the late 1800's; the more formal style reads fluently and I find it immerses the reader in his world, as 'Life and Times' immerses the reader in first-century Israel as if you were there. If you're a fan of Bible prophecy and history, you'll enjoy this. It's a seriously good read.

Great book to have!
Edersheim is speaking of prophecy regarding Christ's first coming, not what we still await to happen. He is always reliables and does not speculate.

Difficult
I never expected this to be simple reading, but I also didn't expect it to be this confusing. I believe the conjectures and such facts as exist could have been presented more clearly. I suppose this is intended for scholarly debate, but it leaves me not desirous of wading through more time-consuming interpretation.

Excellent lectures on the authenicity of the New Testiment
Excellent lectures in defense of the Gospels as historic and authentic and written at the time of Christ. Every serious Bible student can learn from these.

Grab this while you can get it!
Great Jewish scholar Alfred Edersheim accepted Jesus of Nazareth as his Messiah, and brought his knowledge of the Hebrew Scriptures and the world in which they were written to a series of books so helpful for those who hunger to know more of the meaning of the written Word of God. If you want to love God "with all your mind", this is good material to have on hand to read and re-read.
