This is a hand made cross, that has had a high quality black synthetic cord attached with a macramé slide knot making it adjustable from choker size 14 inches to longer size at 36 inches by pulling the cord ends. The listing is for one pendant on a cord, I have several shown to demonstrate the handmade and individual nature of each piece. I have used a Michigan fern in the clay design. The cross measures approximately 2 3/4 inches top to bottom and 1 3/4 inches side to side, the clay is 4mm thick, with the cord opening at 5-6mm. Each one is made by hand, so each one has its own individual characteristics and looks making it uniquely one of a kind on its own, no two are alike. This is a piece of my pressed plant pottery. Using a white clay a large slab is rolled out with fresh plants or flowers used and pressed into the wet clay leaving their 3-D design. The clay is cut by hand in a standard shape or a much funnier version of a free form piece. It is dried into the shape of a bowl, plate, vase, clock, jewelry, etc. At this stage it is nothing more than dried mud! carefully getting it in the kiln for the first firing it comes out as a white canvas ready to paint on. It is much like painting on a porous sponge with water colors. Under glaze stains are used and hand painted on the piece capturing the plant as closely as possible to what it looks like in its natural state. A clear dinner ware safe glaze is then put over the top with the piece fired one more time in the kiln. The result is a high gloss piece of pottery that can be used functionally or ornamentally. Each piece will come with an informational card that explains the creation process, as well as care instructions for bowls and plates. The pieces can be used in the oven on warm and in the microwave. Hand washing is recommended. Each one is a mini masterpiece from Mother Nature, and no 2 are exactly alike!
