High-voltage Power Pentode with traditional brown base. Faithful re-issue of the original Russian EL34

Prominent midrange.
I don't usually buy factory matched tubes because it's not unusual for them to be poorly matched but I needed a pair quickly after a tube dealer messed up on the matching of a pair I ordered from them and then took their sweet time in checking the returned tubes and sending me out replacements. This pair biased up within a couple of mV (mA) out of the box. These aren't the most popular tubes. I can imagine these maybe not being a great choice for hifi or where one is looking for a balanced 34. These Svets are light but tight on the low end. Highs are fairly smooth. Midrange is where these tubes are at. Great crunch in my amp. Quiet electrically and no rattles. No issues so far with probably 30-40 hours on them.

Good HiFi tubes
I ordered these tubes for my old Dynaco tube amplifier, which I have begun using again after over twenty years in the closet. The tubes sound fine - definitely better than the worn out original tubes they replaced. I was puzzled because the tubes are graded as soft/red, medium/green or hard/blue, which I found out refers to their behavior in guitar amplifiers. I chose medium/green for my HiFi amplifier, and they sound well-balanced. I ordered a second set of medium/green for the other channel. The tubes came from Musician's Friend, through Amazon. They were well-packed and came almost as fast as a regular Amazon sale.Update:I ordered a second pair of Svetlanas for the other channel of my amplifier. One of the four tubes failed after about two weeks of use. What's more, the bias setting drifted downward in the first two days of use before stabilizing. For these reasons, I am changing my rating from five stars to four. See my review of Electro-Harmonix EL34 tubes.
