Great great cinematic lens
This is a great focal length for filming and believe it or not, very sharp wide open. (See YouTube comparisons with other lenses and you'll see). I debated whether to get this or the voightlander and so glad I got this (got this and a rokinon 35mm cine for same price as voight). If you are a doubter or on the fense, go look at the two you've videos shot on this lenses. "Light" and "winter is coming". If you type in "mitakon 25mm" it will be one of the choices. Dude who did the videos (Joseph nawoski I think his name is or a variation of that) is great.

Defective shortly after first use, disappointed
Used this for one event and shot many photos. Liked the results and gave it 5 stars. But today I took it out of my padded camera bag and put it on my camera. The focus ring is completely disconnected from the focus mechanism inside, turns without any friction at all. How did that happen?I suspect this is a manufacturing defect in this particular lens - now out $300 or so for a desk paper weight.Update: I took apart the lens (its held together with tiny screws) and it looks like one of the tiny screws that held the focus ring in place fell out on its own, hence, the ring is now free turning. I would call that a manufacturing defect since the lens had little use until the screw went missing, probably never tightened properly when it was made. That's too bad.
