Perfect replacement for my mower.
I am shocked by how well this carburetor made my Sabre 1742 run again. It is like a new mower! I didn’t hold a lot of hope for it when I purchased it because I had rebuilt the original carburetor earlier this year and just never got the thing to run right. It hasn’t run right since I bought the tractor two years ago, but I just thought maybe that was the way it was. Thinking maybe a different carburetor might yield better results, I invested the little I did to get this part and I am floored. All the struggles and trials I have had with that tractor since I got it are all in the past. No more popping, no lugging, the throttle responds perfectly. I now experience the joy of having this mower instead of cursing it every time I mowed.I did dock it a star because it was slightly different from the original and required a little extra work to get working. The original carburetor had a 90 degree fitting for the fuel inlet and the one on this one is straight out. I had to refab the fuel line with new stuff because the original was kinked and fuel wasn’t going in very well. Not a big deal for this gearhead, just a bit of extra work I didn’t plan on.Overall, this is a very good deal for the money I paid for it. It literally made my mower run like new again, and I am so over the moon happy with it!

1 VERY happy customer!
I bought this to replace the carb on my 15hp briggs and stratton lawnmower engine (28U707-1112-E1) and I'll admit that I was rather skeptical as to whether or not this would fix my problem. It was about a 30 min install, and I already assumed there would be a cple small issues after reading the previous reviews about this particular brand and other similar ones here on amazon. The 1st issue I ran into was the lil tab that sticks up on the choke linkage...I snipped it off with a pair of wire cutters, problem solved. The other issue I ran into was that the choke flap was sticking on the airbox, as per other reviews, so I took my pocket knife and shaved the plastic airbox a bit to give the choke flap just a bit more clearance. After solving those 2 minor issues I finished the install and tried to start the engine.....it started nearly instantly, to my surprise, but it did run a lil rough at first. I had some backfiring probs and it was idling way too high. So I tinkered with the idle screw and the governor a bit and before I knew it, it was running like a brand new engine again. After I got it tuned up I attempted to mow my yard (a full acre +) just to test it and see if I was gonna have any issues. It mowed perfectly! I am extremely pleased with this carburetor. Time will tell if its gonna endure in the long run. But even if I have to replace it every cple yrs or so, it would still be a hell of alot better than paying briggs $150+ for their version of this same carb.

Form and function is spot on.
This carb is a really nice knock off made in China, but as for form and function at this price point you can replace them every other mowing season and it would still be worth it. I don't know about it's long term usage yet, but out of the box required no adjustment and performed as well as the factory installed unit when it was new. As a note to would be installers/purchasers this unit came with all the hardware to install including a piece of fuel hose with a pre-molded 90 degree elbow and clamps.

That it fits right and works when you get it on
I liked the price, quality, and fairly easy to install for a novice, I guess its still working, I put it on a mower for an ex-girlfriend, maybe it lasted her a long time.

Overall Good Buy
Very close to the OEM carburetor it fit nicely. After installation when adjusting the fuel mixture I discovered the fuel metering screw had been severely bent and could not be adjusted; tried to straighten but it's made out of pot metal and broke. I was able to remove the metering screw from the takeoff carb and it worked. Verses rebuilding the old carb this is the way to go; so far so good.
