Don't buy during your hot months!
This works very well for grafting! Don't buy during your hot months as it will be all stuck together, melted and ruined! Otherwise it works very well for grafting!

I'll never go back to traditional grafting rubbers
This stuff is great. I'll never go back to traditional grafting rubbers. Very easy to use. Slightly stretchy. It sticks to itself but not to the tree, or your hands. Don't leave the roll out in the sun or you will ruin it, by design it is meant to break down in sunlight to release from the graft over time. This is a purpose built material for grafting, not just strips of the lab version of parafilm; it seems more waxy than that stuff. I like it!

Better than masking tape
This is easy to put on. It is fairly stretchy so you have to put the correct tension to get it snug yet avoid over stretching. It will likely stretch with growth of the graft union.

Stretches and sticks itself enough for good seal, but still need to tie ends with rubber band.
Well, my first grafting experiment was a complete failure, most likely due to infection and poor sterilization technique. But this tape seems to do what it is supposed to. It's like a hybrid between paraffin wax and plastic film, which works extremely well for sealing a graft. To work properly, it needs to be stretched slightly and applied with some tension. It will adhere to itself just well enough to create a water tight seal and stay in place long enough to secure the loose end with a rubber band. It will come off on it's own when the branch widens with growth and the rubber band allows for expansion as well. The 1/2 inch is much easier to work that the 1inch unless you are grafting something wider than a hotdog. Also be sure to seal any cut ends of the branch.

Amazing grafting tape
Very, very, VERY neat tape. Looks like you won't even have to remove it since buds are sprouting right through it. I've used it on 3 apple trees that I grafted with over a dozen of other apple varieties, and it did a great job of protecting the graft while it's healing and adding enough stability to prevent shifting. Amazing product.

Works better than cut down grocery bags.
It probably would be better at a 3/4 to 1" width, but it will work well on softwood grafts and budding, I believe. I've only used it a few times so far, but it seems superior to some thin polyethylene tape ordered from China, that breaks down in a matter of days in our full sun and 90+ degree days. I wish the price was a bit better and will keep it on my 'wish list' until it's better than $4 a roll.
