Cobian Men's A.R.V. II Flip Flops

I was never a flip flop guy, but one day while working in Florida, I decided to buy a pair in case I ever got a day off to go to the beach. I stopped into a boating store and discovered Cobian flip flops. These things are incredibly comfortable, have great support, and are perfect for life around the water. They dry quickly and still have excellent grip if they get wet. It has been about 10 years and I have about 5 or 6 pair, all in different colors - some duplicated for different purposes (i.e. gym, or house-wear). My original ones are still kicking. They aren't in great shape - some normal cracks, but they are certainly still good enough not to throw out, yet. I hope this company never quits, because I've never found a flip flop I liked before these. I'll have to order enough for the rest of my life if they decide to close the doors one day. They're that worth it.

Previous review is below. February 5th, 2021 was the purchase date. Today is 3/13/2021. This is the footbed (pictured). Already worn through. Cobian has a 1 year defect warranty. I submitted claim a week ago and heard nothing. This is my last pair that I will own from them. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this brand!The bad: This is literally the worst wearing sandal I have ever owned! The footbed wears out in 6 months...yes, all the way down to the outsole. I purchased in late June 2020 and trashed in December 2020. I did wear them nearly everyday in that span. I am comparing life to my previous brand, Olu Kai, which provided me with years of wear!So, why did I come back to these? I'm flatfooted and this sandal provides no arch support, which for me is wonderful!The good: This sandal fits true to size. Every about the fit is perfect. I've owned 2 of this particular model. The ARV's, for me, feel amazing. My foot smiles every times I wear them, which is daily when the weather is 65 degrees or above.

This flip flops would be great except for one defect. If you look at the foot bed were the logo is you're walking on that piece of synthetic material right in the most sensitive part of your foot/arch. Its the same material the top of the straps are made out of. Its like walking on a rough piece of plastic just in that one spot. The rest of the foot bed is soft and comfortable. I was hoping the synthetic material would "break in" after a couple weeks of wear... Nope! I really hate to see a good pair of flip flops ruined by a small design flaw for aesthetics. If the manufacture reads this please remove that small piece of synthetic material in the arch of the foot bed. For the reasons described above I would not buy these again. Also I wear a size 11.5 shoe but the size 12 in these was almost too small.

The size runs small but otherwise they are quite good. I have size 9.5 feet and they barely fit on a size 10 sandal. My heel was less than 1/4 inch from the rear of the sandal. However, they are designed with a material that gradually conforms to the feet as you wear them. As the contour began to develop around my foot it sat nicely in the sandal and they are comfortable and stay well on under more conditions than a cheaper sandal. I can even do a light jog in them with minimal difficulty.

The media could not be loaded.  People will hear you coming as they are squeaky. I had received older Cobians as a gift. I enjoyed them so much I went looking for a replacement. It seems they have updated the material. They also made them smaller. When you walk you can hear a squeaky sound. My older model did not make this. It’s important to me that my sandals do not squeak. I can get a cheap pair to do that. I had tried to upload the video before but it seems they did not allow it. Perhaps too real and it may hurt sales? I tried other different models and they squeaked as well. I took the video since I posted asking a question and everyone mostly said they did not have that issue. Here is the truth, they do squeak.

Bought these to replace my previous same style Cobians that are quite worn after about 4 years. I really liked the sole's 'grippiness' that keeps my feet from slipping around. I have skinny feet. Also found the sole to be very comfortable. Received this pair yesterday. Started wearing them and immediately noticed how uncomfortable the strap is on the inside foot side where the strap has most contact. SCRATCHY! Very so. Have only worn them for short periods so far. Am worried when worn for longer periods it will rub foot raw.Tried running finger along inside of strap to find problem areas, sharp spots, etc. but can't. Must be the material I guess. So disappointing. At this price point I do not expect to feel my feet being rubbed/scratched with each step. Comfort is nothing like previous pair. Will return soon and look for a different brand.

Love the style, color, fit, but after daily outdoor and beach use, the porous cushioning traps bacteria and smells horrible. Tried deep cleaning with soap and water but to no avail. Have not experienced this with any other recent flip flops I've had. Disappointed, because they look and fit great.The porous cushioning also takes a fairly long time to dry when they get wet. Flip flops should be made to get wet... Under the microscope, you can see how porous the foam cushioning is.5-STARS on the Style, Color and Fit. Epic Fail on the porous cushioning that becomes unbearably smelly with daily use:(

I have tried just about every flip flop under the sun and I have found these to be by far the most comfortable. They have excellent arch support without being too high and they somewhat mold to your feet. That being said they do tend to wear out and go from being a comfortable cushioning flip flop to a firm sole flip flop rather quickly. That's the only thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars. I wear them for about an average of 2 hours a day and after about 8-10 weeks I'm buying another pair because they have lost that ever so comfortable cushioning. That may be a deal breaker for some, but for me the comfort of these flip flops outweighs the short lifespan.

Hubby bought these to replace a pair he bought in the states while on holiday a few years ago. He’s says they’re hard wearing, comfy and look nice. I must agree they are the best men’s flip flops I’ve seen. Look smart but are practical for everyday wearing.

Cobians rock. They are the most comfy flip flops I have ever owned. My first pair are still going strong 10 years on but looking a little battered/loved. So these are my "smart" flip flops. Worth the extra cash given that they last and are comfy.

IMO these are the best on the market. I have had a few pairs, they outlast all other brands for wear ability as they have a multi layered sole with a tough bottom layer, are a molded design so fit the sole of your foot perfectly.I have never had a broken strap and I do wear them very often, usually daily as I live in a tropical climate. Generally get up to 7 years wear out of a pair. Can't recommend them highly enough, forget the price, they work out to be cheaper in the long run!
