good product
bought this vacum 2 years ago works good! not for thick or shag carpet great for hard wood tile or any hard suface works good on tight weave carpet perfect for me i dont have any shag style carpet, just wanted to add my review after reading others reviews. this vacum is great for quick clean ups before moping and maintenance! not for deep cleaning on carpets you really need somthing that has a motor driven roller brush for that. the plastic tank does crack and break as i saw on others reviews mine has some cracks. when i saw the cracks i odrered a spare tank for $15.00 havent used it yet but i have it just in case. very easy to use and light wieght beats having to plug in a cord and roll it up you spill you can vacum it up and put the vacum away in a minute or 2 very nice

Perfect for dust bunnies and touch ups between serious vacuum sessions.
I just got this today. I put the tube on, without the floor adapter, strapped on a headlamp, and went bunny hunting. Dust bunnies, that is. I have all hardwood flooring and two dogs, so the dust bunnies collect everywhere. I have a great Shark rotator for when I want to really vacuum the whole house, but it's a pain to plug in and maneuver. This thing is light and easy to walk around with, sounds good and works good. It doesn't have the power of a plug in vacuum, of course, but it will pick up all the little scraps and dog hair that's making the floor look dirty. It's very easy to empty, too. In no time I had enough dog hair to make a spare dog inside the see-through dust bin. It took a few seconds to empty it, and was intuitive. There's a screen outside the fabric filter, so that makes it easy.I love it.Update: I've had it now for a month or so, and my house looks great. I've found missing socks in the dust bunnies I've sucked up. It has enough power to twist in my hand when it starts, and it will suck a penny up the long tube off a hard wood floor. It picks up anything reasonable, and I've yet to find anything that fits in the tube and won't go up. Battery life seems great to me, but I have a bunch of Makita stuff so there's always a charged battery around.

It sucks!
I like these so well I got one for my country place too! Very compact and light, excellent vacuum. All the attachments work very well. It’s as good on carpets as it is for crevices.Makita tools are great, I own half a dozen others. Great quality.

Works Well But Has High-Pitched Noise
I bought this because I was interested in a stick-vac and a friend recommended it. Since I have several Makita cordless tools I already had the charger and batteries so decided to give it a try. I’m very happy with it and use it frequently. It works very well on hardwood and tile floors but not as well on carpet which is no surprise to me. The storage bracket allowed me to conveniently mount it in my broom closet although it does not come with mounting screws which wasn’t a big deal for me, but might be for others. Filters are readily available from third party venders at low cost and are easy to replace. Battery life is good. The only downside is that there is a high-pitched whine when in use which is annoying to me. I don’t tolerate loud noises well so frequently use hearing protection when using this and other power tools and appliances. Since I frequently use the stick-vac to clean up on DIY home projects, I’m typically already wearing hearing protection so it’s not a big deal. I deducted one star for the high-pitched noise and lack of mounting screws.

Great vacuum for spot cleaning, and great servicabilty.
The ultimate test of the battery based vacuum cleaner is the 1) suction power, 2) battery life, 3) charge time and 4) serviceability.1) The suction power maybe just bit less than the Dyson V6. But, in use the vacuum cleaner has more than enough vacuum for household use.2) The one charge lasts about 20-30 minutes of off and on run time. The quoted duration is 15 minutes at 100 duty cycle. But, I never had the vacuum on continuously, and I don't think most people would use it that way. I use if mostly to pickup bits of dirt and lints from both wood floor as well as carpeted floor. I have full powered central vacuum which I use when I am in need of cleaning the whole house. So, this is used to do mostly spot cleaning, in between the major battle with the dirt kinds.3) The included 2.0Ah battery is typically charged to full within about 20 minutes. That is much much quicker than most battery based vacuum cleaners out there. This is definite plus for the Makita.4) Serviceability. The battery can be purchased separately. I purchased two 4.0Ah battery for Makita. The included charger can charge 4Ah battery. And the battery can be used in any of the Makita's 18V power tools. So, if you have Makita power tool(s), then you can use these batteries on this vacuum. In some other vacuum cleaners, once the battery life wanes, you have no choice but to purchase another (such as Dyson). This external battery is the way to go.So far, I love this vacuum, it is every-ready minutemen ready to bring spotless cleaning at the finger tip. The vacuum is light and useful tool. Compare to other vacuums that I had from Crafsman, Black & Decker, and others, this is definite keeper, the best of the breed.

Exceptional performance
This vacuums up more than half of my 4300 sq ft house handily. I only have ceramic tile floors with a few low rugs. This gets all the tiny bits in the kitchen, all dog hair, my husband’s hair and dust bunnies. Battery gives me 45 min then I lose my attention span! Ha! Works brilliantly for my hard floors and low rugs. This plus my shark floor steamer and I am one efficient home owner! Buy this! Oh, and no more stooping with a floor height dust buster! The best part!
