A monster pedal for cleans, jazz and blues.
As advertised! This sweetens the sound of my tube amp more than I expected. I really like the clean tube amplification sound of my Stratocaster with Duncan "Every Thing Axe" pickups and nickel strings through my Mercury output equipped Crate V33 tube amp. After trying the Steel String in the effects channel I did not like it. Then I put it between the Stratocaster and amp and got a whole new guitar. The sweetness of the sound went way up. The difference between the 3 Seymour Duncan pick ups is clear and more pronounced than without the Steel String pedal. I watched the video on the Steel String website to see where they had it set and duplicated the setting. THIS IS NOT a pedal for Metal music. It shines on cleans and bluesy music. I have to try other settings if I ever get tired of the way it sounds now. Dunno if I'll get that far, it's too good to change right now.

Excellent Always On Pedal
If you have trouble getting your guitar tone to break through the mix this clean overdrive pedal is for you. Keep in mind this pedal offers very discreet overdrive, but when you stack a higher gain pedal after it like a JHS Morning Glory OD or a Timmy OD, or a Lightspeed OD you can achieve some really amazing boutique amp overdrive/distortion. The Steel String Clean Drive can help a darker tone sparkle.

Great for Guitars with Single Coil Pickups
For single coil pickups, this pedal seems to be the ticket ... I play mostly Strats and Teles ... nice complementary pedal for those guitars ... still working with it to get it dialed in but so far, very pleased ...

Absolutely love the tones!
Phenomenal pedal. Really brings out your tones. Plenty of adjustments to dial in just what you like. Wish I had this 30 years ago!

Drive knob useless
Drive knob on mine didn't add anything but volume. Turing the pedal on and off and changing the gain settings didn't actually change anything in the tone. I assume the one I got was defective as it had black marks on the top and bottom. Did I receive one that a previous reviewer got? (look at his comments)

Worth the money.
I love this pedal. It really “sings” with single coils. I am extremely happy with the improved sound of my strat through this pedal

Don't waste your time, I'm not the only review who had a dead pedal on arrival.
Dead on arrival. No sound would come put unless I held the foot switch 3/4 down, or flipped it over. Very disappointed as I was excited about what this pedal claims to do, but even then I couldn't tell it did much but add volume, for the little bit I could actually get sound out of it. Won't make the mistake of buying another Vertex product, should've listened to the bad rumors on forums about this company I guess.
