So far so good.
I ordered this knowing it was a knock off of DEI brands reflective gold insulation, and because of that I kept my expectations low. So far I have been very pleased with it, and it performs its job perfectly so far. I will say that the adhesive on this is probably not as high of a quality as the DEI brand stuff, but it still adheres very well. I do suggest that you clean the surface you are going to stick it to with rubbing alcohol. The only thing left to find out is how durable it is, but so far it has done the job of reflecting heat where I don't want it perfectly. The only reason I did not leave 5 stars is specifically because I can't verify it's long term "toughness."

Excellent heat reduction for the WRX intake temperature
I was a bit hesitant buying non-branded products as it's hard to find good reviews. I figured if it was flimsy or can tell out of box it was made of cheap material or didn't stick well I could return it to Amazon.<<Construction>>These gold tapes if you're not familiar even with name brand like DEI isn't actually conductive 'gold'. It's a polymer of some type with weaved fabric (I'm assuming glass) in which this one by Mukool looked identical. It seems thin but because of the weaving I could not just tear them like a duct tape which was a good thing. I used a sharp razor (buy pack of 100 here on Amazon...).As far as the adhesive is concerned, it seems to stick very well after cleaning the surface with 90% rubbing alcohol thoroughly. But also I knew I had to be realistic dealing with plastics and adhesives experience in my profession. There's only so much adhesive you can use especially for non-permanent application that if other 'hot' parts within your engine bay isn't wrapped or properly insulated, then I can see this tape loosening after awhile. I haven't taken my thermocouple wires attached to the outside of the intake box (Cobb brand) which I'll update down the road, I have a feeling it's easily 180+ degree.<<Torch Test>>I read how you can use a heat gun to conform these tapes but I have to disagree honestly (or I have no idea what I'm doing!). This isn't a headlight film or a material that can stretch. It's really like trying to stretch a duct tape. It's flexible but it doesn't stretch with the fabric woven in. With that said, I did take my heat gun and cranked it up to 1,500 degrees and in about 5-6 seconds it did start to melt the surface but did not go right through the whole tape which I was quite surprised. That gave me some confidence this product may actually work!<<Application>>The part should be scrubbed down well with no dirt, contaminants and oil. That will likely be the longest part of the process. At least for the Subaru WRX/STi, one roll will easily do the Cobb intake box. If you want to do the front plastic intake piece like I did, two rolls will get through it just fine with some left over. Since plastic absorbs a lot of heat, I wanted to reflect the heat off.Other than that it's pretty much like as if you were trying to cover something with a duct tape. The 11"x23" may be easier if you're doing a large surface but I just took my time and cut each strip and overlapped the layer by 1-2mm. Just enough so there were no gaps. The plastic intake snorkel was kind of odd and took longer but did take small pieces and laid them best as I could.<<Result>>This is by no means a scientifically proven test as there are too many variables to consider. Both days I did the test, the temperature and humidity was different between 80-84 degrees ambient temperature. The average intake temperature for most city driving was reduced by 10-15 degrees; on a conservative side, 10 degrees consistently. Highway temperature cruising at 65 mph in 5th gear, it averaged almost 25 degrees less. When it was 80 degrees, the intake temperature was reading 108-110 degrees. On a hot day I was hitting barely 17 psi and today it gained up to 1 full psi (cooler months, 18.5 psi on average). 10-15 degrees may not seem like much but the car is definitely pulling better than when it wasn't properly insulated. Also at idle yesterday at 84 degrees outside, the intake temperature almost doubled at 158 degrees for idling 10 minutes in the parking lot. Today, about 82 degrees outside for the same time it only went up to 148 degrees.I've noticed the heat doesn't rise quickly and seem to cool down quickly as well. For those of you with a turbo, my stock VF52 turbo doesn't have the turbo blanket nor the heat shield and the downpipe is also bare. Intercooler is also stock which with the plastic ends, it tends to heat soak quite a bit. I do have PTP turbo blanket on order (non-Lava) which I'm hoping will make an even bigger difference. I'll be making more readings and my own personal assessment once I tackle the areas I can cover.<<Overall Impression>>- It slows down the intake temperature- If the car is moving at highway speeds even on a 85 degree day, it makes a noticeable difference- Quality tape from what I've tested so far in the last week- Any surface that's curved will be difficult to make the tape stay in place (due to heat after awhile it will lift)I did not get paid to write this review or was sponsored. But for the money you spend for two rolls you can't beat the amount of difference it makes. Once I get my turbo wrapped and make a custom shield for it I may use more of this tape to reduce the amount of heat coming up towards the TMIC (which will also get upgraded down the road). I don't care for the gold look but I'm also not driving with the hood open either...function over aesthetics at this point. Every bit of heat shield and reduction in engine bay temperature is a great thing!

Decent buy for the price.
Application:2004 350z , Single turboBought this just to try it out. Cuts pretty easy and lays pretty easy too. Have noticed a few areas already starting to peel up a bit, I can alonly assume this from contamination while Installing. But in all honesty the real deal isn't too much more than this. But the package deal was very convenient for my test!
