High Medieval Houpelandes for Men and Women Pattern

Much Bang for the Buck
Houplandes, those medieval gowns that evolved into our graduation robes, are a staple of the 13th through 16th centuries, constantly changing in length, width and details throughout the years. This pattern give 3 female and 3 male versions, with differing sleeve and collar details as well as length (for the male versions) and edge detailing: one version included structions for dagging, a very nice plus! The patterns themselves are tissue, so I always make a marking paper version in the chosen style/size to save the original. This pattern also includes a wealth of historical information, recommendations for fabrics and details sewing instructions. VERY complete! For a costumer of any level, this is a winner!

At best these are a general guide for super experienced seamstresses/tailors.
View #6 doesn’t include a front. In going through the notes and looking at the patterns, I think I sort of understand what she is trying to do, but that's only because I have experience with sewing. I understand that she is trying to do a lot of sizes and types per pattern, but when this comes at the expense of actually being able to make them up into something recognizable, this is a problem. The only way to use these patterns is by being highly accomplished and skilled, and even then, I recommend making up with muslin/old bed sheet first to make sure everything works correctly. Do not use these directly on your fabric or you may be sorely disappointed.
