Prepare to grin like an idiot!
I own several helicopters and they're all fun to fly in different ways. Other reviewers have written excellent guides about Syma, and I won't waste your time by reiterating what they have said, but I think the Syma helicopters are better in terms of control sensitivity - My Symas seem to have at least three distinct forward/back and rotate speeds, and this has two that I can tell. The missile function is hugely fun. Two cardboard cutouts of tanks are supplied as targets. Wind from the rotors can knock them down, so keep a bit of distance. Effective straight line range of the missiles is about three feet, but it's also fun to "bomb" a target from a height. The controller is pretty well constructed, with the missiles being triggered from buttons located where your left and right index fingers naturally sit at the shoulders of the controller. A nice touch is the speed control button, which limits speed to about 1/2 - useful for beginners. My main gripes with this helicopter is the fact that it's very noisy, and the type of plastic used for the body shell is slightly brittle - I managed to crack the nose (a very minor point, and doesn't affect the flying). However, in a really spectacular crash I managed to bend the rotor shaft, causing vibration and more noise. Spare parts are available from the website listed in the instruction manual, but are somewhat expensive when compared to your initial investment ($6.00 per part of the rotor shaft, plus shipping). Here are my observations on this helicopter:Pros1) Missiles add a whole new dimension of fun2) Great value for the price3) Fun and stable to fly4) The rotor throttle control (controls up/down) is not spring loaded5) Can charge from controller or the USB charging cable that is included6) Fairly durable7) Spare parts are readily availableCons1) Plastic shell is more brittle than Syma helicopters2) Much noisier than the Syma 108 and 1093) Spare parts are relatively expensive compared to the initial outlay

Great Idea, needs one big fix
I love it and hate it all at the same time. It is a ton of fun to shoot from an RC helo, and it flies similarly to a Syma. However, there is one big issue with its control.I think the only reason it is so hard to control is the lack of the spring loaded throttle. I actually tried to use a Syma 3.5 Ch remote (from my Syma CH-46) with it to get a spring loaded throttle. It synched with the remote, but was completely erratic and out of control. Apparently they aren't compatible, but it was worth a try. If this helo had a spring loaded throttle control that constantly gave tension towards off like the Syma helos do, then I think it would be significantly easier to control. I read on review where someone rigged their remote with a rubberband to replicate the spring. I would highly recommend that for this helicopter. Also, I would recommend flying a Syma for a little while and getting good with it before taking this one on; it isn't quite as forgiving.Overall though, a decent helicopter that does one cool thing that no Syma does, IT SHOOTS MISSLES!!!!

Doesnt fly well. Missile pretty cool and fun though
I own a few of the Symas and though it would be REALLY cool if I could add MISSILES to one of those mini indoor copter. In comes this one and I went for it even though it cost quite a bit more. If it flew as well as the others AND shot missiles- it would be MORE than worth it. Well, this copter is a FAR CRY when compared to others such as the Syma 107s and the Marine S108 or Cobra S109. It doesnt fly nearly as well as those. It hard to control and is VERY VERY loud compared to the others. It has a joyctick where the throttle stays put which is kinda nice but takes A LOT OF GETTING USED TO. I could live with that because its nice to be able to "auto-hover" while turning to shoot a missile. HOWEVER, the controls really suck. The copter does not control well so its very hard to hit anything. Also the missiles are SUPER-LIGHT (which I suppose I should have expected) and dont do any damage. Now dont get me wrong. It still is a lot of fun. Its cool to fly this thing and shoot people. The missiles have a sweet rangle and can shoot someone in the chest from five feet away when hovering about the height of someone's head. Missiles work well, but couldnt hurt a fly. I shot at a Syma S107 dead on (I had someone stand still like a dead duck in front of me) and the missile just bounces off. So dont expect to have ANY shootouts and takedowns of anyone else's copters. These missiles WILL NOT attack another copter. You can shoot a missile INTO THE WINGS of a hovering copter nearly and the copter wont even move. With that said, it REALLY IS fun. But only if you plan on horsing around and shooting at people in the office. I rate this 2/5 stars. It sucks as a helicopter when compared to others that are cheaper, but its kinda cool that you can shoot missiles. But that the only thing it does well. If you find a copter that flys as well as the Symas AND shoots missiles, PLEASE let me know

Combat Chopper is just ok
When I received my helicopter I was happy about the packaging and that it seemed to ship undamaged. On the initial flight I found out the missiles don't shoot. After a couple of minor crashes the copter will no longer hover without moving. The controls are simple to learn though and it provides some limited fun. The battery life is awful though and I can see going through a tremendous amount of batteries to play with this. The helicopter itself only lasts for about 8 mins without needing to be recharged.
