this is a great addition to your enthusiast camera body
For the money, this is a great addition to your enthusiast camera body. I shot video on and off for 4 hours the first time I took my battery grip out on location and still had a charge at the end of the day. The back door isn't as flimsy as other reviewers are portraying it. While its not safari-tested by all means, I think it must take some poor gorilla-handling to break it off like some have reported. In all seriousness, I found the build, ergonomics and weight to be great and the surface texture matches that of the camera body. Well worth the money for this line of cameras.

Fits and works well
Fits my Nikon D3100 wellGrips just under awesome well over Ok. build is better than i thought but batteries don't seem to last as long as i think they should after one use and very small testing they went to second bar on my battery meter. ill be working with this more to see if that changes it may be that you need to remove the battery's after each use which CAN be annoying to some

Exactly what you need when you start taking more video or a large volume of photos
I had my d3100 for about a year learning how to use a DSLR before I started butting against the end-of-a-battery level of photo volume. When that happened I bought this battery grip kit and it worked exactly how I wanted. I not only immediately got double the life-span of work time, but then I also had a back-up battery (the OEM camera battery) for worst-case-scenarios.Now, to note - you have to *remove* the camera's battery door and attach the grip to the tri-pod connector. But it has a twist tightener and also has it's own tri-pod connection on the bottom. As for my d3100 - the door came off easily (after looking in the instructions) and I keep it in my bag in case I ever want to remove the grip. Additionally, you also have to plug in the grip's vertical trigger connector into the side of your camera - which leaves the other connectors exposed and, if you don't want to remove it, a hanging rubber door on your camera. The grip doesn't give you any controls other than the trigger on the bottom - all you get is the ability to focus (by half-press) and to take the picture(s). That being said, the trigger feels good, is solid, and has held up well to a few months of professional-level-abuse.It also comes with a screen-protector for the camera's display...which is umm, ok, thanks? Guess if you haven't already got a screen protector by the time you pick one of these up - it's a nifty add-on.You can use the grip with only one battery in worst-case-scenario times. I found myself at a paid gig with the last of my camera life slowly getting to the end (Videos and about 3k of images) - I was able to put my backup battery (the camera's original battery) in the grip by itself and use that. I found a power outlet and started charging one of the nearly-dead batteries, once that was charged - replaced that into the camera and started charging the other... made it through without a power loss and still had some juice in the OEM battery. If you're serious about photography, video or just don't want to have to deal with charging batteries often, this is for you.Pros: Double Battery Life, comes with Cut-to-Size screen protector, trigger for Vertical photography. You'll look like a pro photog.Cons: Wire and Plug to enable the vertical trigger - using it leaves other connectors exposed and a rubber cover hanging from your camera. Real pro photogs will know you're fronting... but will probably smile and remember when they did that same thing. Unless they're douches.

Good but not great
Its pretty solid. The batteries were great, both of them hold good charges and work in the camera on their own without the grip. I get an error message every once in awhile saying that the battery's are not right for the camera (d3300), but if one of the batterys is the original nikon, it doesn't show up. The battery door rattles a little which is annoying. It fits the d3300 O.K. but not perfectly... use some sandpaper to shave down the front edge and the corners; I think this is because it is optimally shaped for the d3100/3200. It works for tripod mounting but the metal screw-in mount protrudes from the plastic just a few millimeters. It still mounts reasonably solid to a tripod but rotates one way or another a bit too easily. I take it off when I shoot long exposure shots for stars/ light trails/ etc. All-in-all its a pretty good battery grip or the price, but definitely not professional quality that you would expect from a name-brand battery-grip.

Works with the Nikon D3300
I ordered this with doubts as to whether or not the product would work for my camera, the Nikon D3300 (and yes it does work with my camera). The battery grip works just like its suppose to. So I am really happy and satisfied that I ordered this product. It fits great and feels comfortable as well. I would recommend this product to anyone who's looking for a battery grip for the Nikon D3300.

Nikon D3300
I bought this for my Nikon D3300 and it fits and works perfect. I'm an amateur photographer and this makes the camera look professional. I love the shutter button on this item as well, a lot more comfort shooting vertically.Update 3/15/2015.... Excited at first but then shot down when it counted. I initially gave this item 5 stars when I first received it. Unfortunately I'll have to change my review to just 1 star. worked perfectly when I unpacked it and took 2 test shots with no flaws. While awaiting my first shoot with my new equipment, I put the grip on and a warning popped up on my screen and it read.... "This battery cannot be used. Choose battery designated for use in the camera". Though the batteries alone work in the camera, they did not work while in the grip.
