Item came with dead battery but as opposed to some other reviews I find it very accurate... tap water NJ reading 254-280 . NYC water 25-45!!!! Better than bottled water ... I have a distiller .. reads 1-4 .. see pix.. filters take out a few points both the Britta and the workplace countertop expensive water filter dispenser .. oh you need to push “clear” data before measuring a new sample for those who see same reading over and over. Lower temperature will give lower reading. Fun tool.

It came with a bad battery. Why can't the battery be checked before you mail it out? I had a new one to replace the bad battery and now lets see if I can get more than a couple months out of this thing. This will be my 4rth TDS meter in 3 months from 4 different companies. They all either do not work period or they have bad batteries or poop out very quickly. Not holding my breath that this one will be any different than the trend.

Used this to see if I need a water filter ... and I do not, so I feel just fine putting tap water in a my canteen.
