Description
- Made entirely in Japan with powerful, sophisticated technology Japanese manufacturing has earned a strong reputation for high levels of quality and technological sophistication. And the Edge is purely Japan-made, from design to materials procurement to all aspects of processing, inspection and even packaging. It's all done in Japan.
- Anyone who holds it in their hand should feel deeply satisfied with it-- this is the conscientious desire of Japanese engineers that has provided the impetus for this unprecedented development effort. The result is a product ready for the whole world with a level of perfection so precise that even errors as miniscule as 1/100mm are not allowed.
- The pursuit of functional beauty enveloped in rounded planes, the outward form of The Edge features subtle edges. When holding your iPhone in one hand, this design affords a grip that feels right on the fingertips. Since the surface also resists slipping, it is comfortable to grasp, and forms a good fit with the palm of your hand.
- The pursuit of a design that protects your iPhone while you carry it around has given rise to a beautiful silhouette unattainable by other designs that try too hard. And it heightens the expressiveness of your iPhone, accentuating its individuality. The pursuit of a design that protects your iPhone while you carry it around has given rise to a beautiful silhouette unattainable by other designs that try too hard. - Resin made joints secure the bumper makes easy attachment a snap. Removal is just as easy with the included tool or a ball point pen by inserting it into the release hole. A spare pin is also included for replacement. Many cases obstruct the iPhones signal, but the resin joint components of The Edge are designed to reduce any possible signal obstruction.
Materials selected with protection as the top priorityz In order to achieve highly portable lightness while maintaining strength as a metal bumper, we selected the aluminum alloy A2078. Also known as super duralumin, this material is an alloy thatmbines aluminum with copper (Cu) and magnesium (Mg). While featuring the lightness of plastic, duralumin is a high-strength metal. However, in very thin, finely detailed forms, it is extremely difficult to process, and the machining cannot be accomplished without the expertise and experience of master artisans. The Edge is created with the use of a five-axis machine tool that carves it out of a large metal block. Weighing a mere 15g, the bumper component that remains at the end of this lavish process represents only about 5% of the original block of material. In addition to possessing abundant strength needed to protect your iPhone, the very thinness of it is a triumph of Japanese technological prowess. yCoating technology you wouldn't expect with metalz With its lightweight design that feels familiar in your hand, one characteristic feature of The Edge is a texture that you wouldn't expect from metal. It softly grips the skin in a way that feels comfortable to the touch, and the surface resists fingerprints. The secret is a special electrolytic coating that can only be accomplished in factories in Japan. This molecular-level fine surface processing results in a coating with non-skid properties, which evaporates perspiration on contact so that fingerprints donft remain behind.
