First Class Rice Cooker update
The Yum Asia Panda mini is truly a superb piece of kit. The build quality is of the highest order, it has a small footprint and the fuzzy logic feature ensures that your rice is always cooked to your preference every time. The menu is simple to navigate and covers a number of different types of rice together with porridge, cakes, steaming facility and time delay should you wish to cook rice later. I bought the mini because I only cook for two or three at home. It is important to say that the cup size as advertised is the included cup which is 160ml. NOT a standard cup size of 250ml. Having said that you can produce a max of over 1.2 kilo of cooked rice at a time which for us is more than enough. It is simple to clean and, although expensive, is voted number one in 'Which' magazine. There is an excellent cook book that is written for the Panda available on Amazon or the Yum Asia web site which, unfortunately, has to be purchased separately. All in all a great product and I would heartily recommend.

I regret not buying this sooner
Oh boy, where do I begin. Let's start with the product1. Easy to use? Absolutely, literally plug it in, put rice and water, press a button to select the type of cooking, start, forget about it, it will let you know when it's finished and then go to keep rice warm automatically2. Size? Quite small, I'd compare it to my 4 bay toaster, it can fit in most spaces but if you don't use it daily like me, you can easily just store it somewhere.3. Can it cook rice? Oh yes it can, and soup too apparently but I haven't tested that yet. The only "issue" I have is trying to get the measurements right, or maybe I need to buy a different brand of rice, because it always ends up a bit "sticky". Not horribly so, the rice still tastes absolutely great, but sometimes I want fluffy rice that doesn't clump unless you press it, but I don't think that's the machine's fault.4. Is it fast? Oh yes! It depends on the type and quantity of rice you're making but 1 cup of rice it's usually 15-20 mins, perfect to start working on the rest of your stir-fry.5. Does it taste good? I literally can't tell the difference between this or restaurant made. I mean, sure, they can make the whole dish better than I can at home, but just the rice itself? As good as any I've ever had at any restaurant worth its salt. Now, the personal stuff. Really, I regret not buying one sooner, like... I've been wasting my life having to try and cook rice in a pot and almost ALWAYS do something wrong about it. Either some got stuck to the bottom, either too wet, not enough fluff, temperature was too high/low, the list goes on. Seriously, if you do rice even 2 times a week, this is worth it!Now for a "warning" bit. Nothing wrong just a word of advice, as all that steam needs to escape somewhere, and it does, through a little vent on the top of the device, so don't put it underneath other stuff, especially cupboards or such in the kitchen. Let that steam just rise all the way up. However, you can use this as a great opportunity to clean the bottom of those suspended wall-mounted cupboards, by letting the steam melt down all the grease and dirt that went on over the years, so maybe it's a good thing?

A great buy, perfect for 2 people, suitable for One-Pot Meals
This rice cooker does a great job. It cooks rice perfectly, and the build quality feels solid. It’s easy to clean since everything comes apart easily. The non-stick inner bowl works well, and even though it’s not dishwasher-safe, a quick wipe with a sponge is enough.I wasn’t sure about the size at first, especially compared to my old, cheaper rice cooker. But it’s plenty for two people, even when adding veggies and protein for a one-pot meal. If you're just making plain rice, it could serve 4–5 portions.Overall, a good purchase.

Easy to use for someone who can't cook rice
I never know how long to cook rice for, or how much water to use to get it cooked just right so it's always left to my wife as she can cook it to perfection. I purchased a small cheap rice cooker years ago but found it very hit and miss so it got sold as I never tended to use it.I purchased this to enable me to cook my own rice dishes once again. There were cheaper rice cookers but I went for this one based on the positive reviews.I'm glad I did because this little cooker works a treat. It is so simple to use that I can't see how you can go wrong. My sone loves rice but is such a fussy eater. Even he says that this cooks the best rice, so that must be saying something.I like that you can throw other things in whilst cooking the rice and I quite often put in sweetcorn, peppers, peas and cherry tomatoes. You can even crack an egg into it and it will cook the egg whilst the rice cooks - great for egg fried rice.Following cooking, there is a keep warm function which lasts unto 24 hours. This is perfect as it allows me to continue cooking other food without the risk of having to time everything perfectly or risk having the rice go cold. This device is tiny but will do plenty of rice up to around 4 people or so. The inner pan in non stick so you just remove it and simply clean it which takes a few seconds and you're done ready for next time.It comes with a rice measuring cup and 2 spoons, one for stirring and dishing up and another soup ladle. The only negative that I can find with this is that the cooker detects how much rice and water you've put in so automatically calculates the exact amount of cooking time for you. However, it doesn't indicate how long your rice is going to take to cook but you soon get to know this if you tend to cook the same portion each time like I do. I think it gives you a 5 minute countdown timer before the end but then starts counting up the minutes when it's being kept warm.Highly recommended though and definitely worth paying a little extra for a good rice cooker like this.
