Heavy when you need it, light when you don’t. One thing that could be approved is to use a hard base plastic that is 100% flat and not flexible like the material the base is made from. That little round edge on the bottom border is enough to get a micro wobble going that can make an irritating noise. If you need more weight, you can add $6 worth of play sand but you will have a lot harder time emptying it if you ever need to. Funnel the sand in DRY!! Any water that gets the sand wet near the opening will dramatically slow the filling. After you have filled it about half way with sand, tilt it on its side to push the sand to one side and resume adding. Leave about an inch of space from the opening to the top of the sand. Now SLOWLY pour in water and when it’s full, let the water soak into the sand, repeat until you can’t then cap.

The absolute best option for the price. Filled with sand and keeps the umbrella steady and no movement. Looked all over for an affordable option that would work well with our 7.5 foot umbrella, and this was the perfect choice. So happy we decided on this one. Highly recommend!

This a a very sturdy and solid base. I like that it is not heavy without adding water. I am using water in it and its working well for me.

There are holes on top of the base which tell me that the can't handle Rainey days.
