unhappily ever after
I bought this book years ago thinking it was a happily-ever-after story about an American with a Filipino wife. Just getting around to reading it now, before I gave it away, it turns out it is far from that. Author Makow is an English PhD, board-game designer, and crank-pot conspiracy theorist who gets married to a girl 25 years younger than him only to discover she has no interest in him. After moving back to North America, she spends all her time online meeting other men, throws violent tantrums whenever she doesn't get her way, and reports him to the police for abuse whenever he tries to stand up to her. Eventually he tricks her into returning to the Phillipines without a return ticket, and they divorce. Whew! Some but not all of the criticisms of one-, two-, and three-star reviewers are justified. Makow is obviously very immature, and he admits as much. He is also extremely gullible, and it should have been obvious to him that this girl was not really interested in him. However, he is not a predator, and many of his criticisms of western women are standard fare among American men today.A few specific criticisms rebutted:Makow did not go the Phillipines looking for young girls; rather, he tried to make contact with a number of women in the Phillipines, aged 20 to 40, and this was the one who responded to him; additionally, she initially lied about her age, saying she was three years older than she was.Makow did not go the to the Phillipines looking for a "slave"; in fact, he does all the cooking and housework after they return to Canada. He also does all the girl's homework when she goes to trade-school to get a license as a nurse's aide.Makow did not have a complex; as the number of negative reviewers on Amazon who disparage him by calling him short, fat, bald, old, and non-virile attest, the issue of a man's "dominance" comes from female selection, not male fantasy. The author's desire to be loved and treated the same as a tall, younger man with a full head of hair isn't unnatural or reprehensible, even if it is unrealistic.Makow did not ignore Phillipine cultural norms; in several instances he admits to making faux pas due to ignorance of Phillipine custom, but his apology and expectation of understanding is not unreasonable.Again, the author is obviously immature and gullible, and he suffered the consequences. Do you really need to read the story? Will it enrich your life? No and no. Unless you are thinking of trying to meet a mail-order bride, in which case I would definitely recommend reading this book.

100% Red Pill Writing On The Current War Against Men
I purchased this book expecting to read a simple romance story about a man marrying a filipina but instead, I found a profound study on modern men-women relations and the current war against men. This book will be very useful to those planning to go abroad to find feminine women for marriage. This book emphasizes the consequences of blindly idealizing foreign women. The books ends in a tragedy from which the author is able to acquire invaluable wisdom.Do not read this book if you are "blue pill". In other words, if you still believe the myth that women are oppressed by men, you will need a very open mind to be able to understand the reality you have been denied to see. This book presents a story that is NOT new for millions of men that have had their lives ruined by feminism. This is the story that the political correct media will NEVER feature. This is the story of most married men in North America, the story that no one is interested to hear, the story that we are forced to keep to ourselves.Since the development of the strategy of political correctness in the Frankfurt School, which pretends to destroy judeo-christian values by replacing them with marxist values such as equality and myths such as "oppression of women" to facilitate the establishment of a totalitarian regime, there have been very few attempts at resisting "cultural marxism". "A Long Way To Go For A Date" is one of these and it will fill the heart of men with hope and useful 100% red pill information. In a time when men are constantly physically, emotionally, and financially abused by their wives, girlfriends, mothers, sisters, female co-workers and employees, this book represents a strong tool to protect yourself from feminism. Read it before the feminists get it banned. This is not a Christian book but Christian readers will appreciate the author's respect of biblical gender roles. All the author wanted was a wife to love and protect and all he asked for was respect and obedience. Christians, anti-feminists, libertarians, conservatives and even the sensual libertines will enjoy this book.

AN Interesting Read
I think the author has very strong views about woman and the fact that in canada he is not the complete attractive package perhaps his own ego thinks he is. Neverthe less his experience in the Philipines provides for us an in-sight into the working of the Philipino mind where the impetus to get involved with a white male be it from the Uk or America could be influenced mainly by money to help the family to live and the family to feed. I think the obvious point is that the female from the Philipines does not know her own mind when they are aged between 18 to say 26..AFter that I think a bit more mature thought can come into the equation..IT is sad that the authors experience ended in such a calamity for which i sypathise having had similar experiences..but not as dramatic...I think this a read for any male who is thinking of linking up with a Romance/partnership with a Philipino girl. But be aware that the strength of that partnership could be dependant on how deep is your pocket.IF the Authors experience is anything to go by. It would be best to live in the Philipines and take control of the situation to ensure that your partners eyes do not wander elsewhere..Thanks now Bob..England

Not the outcome I thought it would be.
Having read Henry Makow's website for a few years I thought it would be good to read this book. I don't like the idea of men going to another country for a young bride. However, I do like his honesty in the way he told the story and think every man looking for a much younger mail order bride should read this first.
