How did I ever live without this?
This is the most amazing invention ever!! I think I stumbled across these a few years ago when I Googled "have sex on your period" or something along those lines when I knew I would be getting my period before a vacation -- and I have never looked back! A few times over the years, I've had to use pads for a few periods after multiple cervical biopsies and then a LEEP procedure (none of which have affected the effectiveness of Softcup for me by the way), and it was awful!!! I missed my Softcup so much. :( Seriously, I can't imagine why women continue to use pads and tampons -- all I can think is they must not know anything like this exists! Someone definitely needs to educate all women about the wonders of Softcup. :)All that said, obviously these are not for the faint of heart, and you definitely can't be squeamish about bodily fluids or getting your fingers all up in your private parts. I'll admit the first time I used Softcup it was a little nerve-wracking, I definitely struggled to get it in and out and panicked a little. But with a few deep breaths and a little practice, I got the hang of it and by the time my next period came around I was using it like a pro. I recommend using some latex gloves in the beginning, so you'll feel more comfortable getting a feel for how everything fits together in there. :) Once I got good at taking it in and out, the gloves seemed like more of a nuisance than anything because I wasn't really getting much blood on my fingers anyway. If you're nervous about trying Softcup or had a bad experience the first time, I promise the benefits are worth pushing past whatever hesitancies you might have! I can't tell you how freeing it is to use, especially the re-usable kind! A few days before I'm due to get my period, I toss one in my purse and that's that. No more worrying about packing extra pads and tampons and changing them every so many hours. I've rarely had a problem with Softcup overflowing as long as I empty it every 12 hours. Sometimes on weekends if I sleep / stay out late I will end up wearing it for over 12 hours and have had a few "leaks" on heavier days (totally my fault!). For the most part, you can "empty" it throughout the day on heavier days by "bearing down" when you go to the bathroom. It's also not hard to rinse out away from home, as long as you're in a private bathroom.Over the years of using these I've definitely figured out a few other tricks for using it that work for me... I find it easier to take out/re-insert from a squatting position, so I like to do that in the shower and obviously I can just rinse it out while I'm in there too. The rest of the time, I usually squat in front of my sink and take it out there. I do have to hold my hand under it or a piece of toilet paper to avoid drips when I know it's full. Still, I've found I'm less likely to make a mess doing that than if I take it out on the toilet and then I have to waddle over to the sink. With a little trial and error / practice you will figure out what works best for you and your body (and your bathroom situation)! In terms of "re-useability"... When I first started using the Softcup, it was before the re-useable cup was available, but I quickly figured out that even the "disposable" version could be re-used at least a few days in a row. I was ecstatic when I saw there was a more durable type available, not just because it's more economical but it's also more ecological. Now that I use the re-useable Softcup, I wash it quickly every evening before bed with a mild soap, and then rinse it with water each morning in the shower. At the end of my period I clean it thoroughly and put it back in the empty box to be used again later. I've found I can re-use the same cup for 2-3 periods, and even then it rarely gets holes or leaks. Usually I toss it and use a new one just because I figure 2-3 is enough uses for me to get my money's worth, and the plastic does get a bit discolored over time.As far as comfort goes, to be honest I'm surprised I haven't accidentally left it in there after a period because it's really that unnoticeable! I do wonder sometimes if it makes my cramps worse (I know other women have reported that), but honestly it's been so long since I haven't used it that I really can't compare. With regards to sex, I've never had a guy tell me he can feel it during vaginal intercourse (with or without condom). I have had guys that have felt it with their fingers, however, so you might want to warn your partner in that situation. But for the most part, I think if I never said anything no guy would have any idea I'm wearing it. ;P If your guy is SUPER squeamish I do recommend you clean it before sex, or you risk a little bit of leakage.Wow, who knew I had so much to say?? :D Obviously I am a huge supporter of the Softcup!! :) I would highly recommend it to any woman. At least give it a try -- what do you have to lose?

Still have to wear a pad.
I started using Softcups because I hate tampons. I loved the idea of being able to be intimate with my husband while wearing these. I have used the disposable Softcups for years and decided to try the reusable version out. It IS bigger than the disposables but I noticed no difference between the two other than the size.So here is my general review of Softcup (reusable and disposable are no different to me)I will start by saying that I have had 4 children. I started using these when I had 3. My periods are not exceptionally heavy and I can usually get around 6-8 hrs of wear from a heavy tampon. With Softcup I only get around 3-4 hrs.I am a stay at home mom so it's really no issue to change these but I would NOT want to change one in public! It is so messy. I cloth diaper so I have a sprayer I use for my diapers that I also use for these Softcups. With the reusable I just spray it out and reinsert it. Having the sprayer is the only thing that makes these tolerable for me. Very similar to a diaphragm as far as inserting and removing but MUCH easier. With tampons I would get horrible cramping but not with Softcup. If I leave the house I do have to wear a pad because they will leak within 3-4 hrs on the first few days of my period. (I use cloth pads!)If you have heavy periods I wouldn't recommend using these. Also, be aware that it is a messy process to change them!

Someone wore this on an airplane?!? Pffft. My long and overly detailed 1 star review...
I don't normally take the time to write reviews, but I simply had to with this particular product because there seem to be an abundance of glowing 5 star reviews and hastily written 1 star reviews. TMI warning, I am graphic so you have a clear picture of what you can expect when using this product so hopefully you can avoid it by not purchasing it.I had such high hopes that I would forever be able to rid myself of tampons and pads and switch to just using the softcup method after reading the reviews here. I have no idea what type of woman these will work effectively for, so my experience may be unique, but I urge you to not use this product at all if you need to ever leave the house when you are on your period. You may be met with disaster.I started this on the first day of my period, which is light to medium. It took a little getting used to, but I know that I was inserting it correctly and the softcup was ultimately placed in the right part of my anatomy. At first I loved it! No leaks and I only had to drain the cup twice before bedtime. Normally I would have gone through about 5-6 regular to super sized tampons in that time frame. I cleaned it and put it in for the last time at around 11:30pm, looking forward to my first night of sleep with no pad as a backup in probably 20 years.Fast forward to 2:45am. I woke up covered in blood. Not just a little spot of leakage, I mean drenched through my underwear, sheets soaked, dripped blood across the floor into the bathroom. Once in the bathroom, there was even more blood. If I didn't have a bidet attached to my toilet, I would've been forced to take a shower. I assumed I must have dislodged it somehow. It had worked so well all day! So I cleaned myself up, reinserted it and went back to bed with a towel down.At 5:30am the same thing happened all over again. It was like being the stupid teenager in a horror movie where she makes the same mistake again and the audience is screaming at her idiocy. This time I smartened up and put a pad on so I could make it through until my 7:30 alarm.I systematically had to change this stupid thing out every 1-2 hours throughout the day and had small leaks each time. My hands were a mess. The toilet was a mess. I went through nearly an entire roll of toilet paper cleaning myself and my surroundings up. I know people can be squeamish about blood, so please understand how horribly wet this entire process is. Had I not been home the entire day, I would've been in a truly disgusting situation in public. I hope that never happens to any woman, our periods are bad enough already.Perhaps this product would work well for women with very light periods, but any of you medium to heavy flow girls out there need to avoid this like the plague.

TTC: PERFECTION!
So I actually ordered these as a TTC aid. I'm loving it. They do look big, but the way they sit is actually even more comfortable to me than the moon cup. I have not tried using it for what it's made for yet. I'm wondering how that will work out because when you open it, the cup size looks big enough to hold a lot. BUT once it's in you it cannot possibly be shaped that way any longer right? So I'm assuming it will hold less than it does fully opened.Considering how it feels when you slide your finger under it to pull it out, I doubt there will be any leakage at all though when used for your period. As for using it for TTC after BD, it's wonderful! Nothing escapes. Everything stays right up close to cervix. And then I take it out a few hours later. Very comfortable that afterwards you can wake up and go to the bathroom, go back to bed and get your legs up again if you want, since nothing went anywhere. I think that I will use this all the time for TTC. Even on non fertile days I think i will consider using it anyway. Don't particularly like that sticky feeling! after BD great product though! Highly reccomend! Will be posting full review on clearblue monitor soon. Good luck TTC ladies!

First time using these. Bit of a fiddle and ...
First time using these. Bit of a fiddle and can be bit messy but other then that they do what they say. I have worn a towel along side this today just in case and could have got away with a panty liner instead. Really comfy once in place don't know its there. I will keep using these as I think once I get a bit more practise it will be very simple and will make periods a whole lot more comfy. No soreness or leaks etc.

NOT SUITABLE FOR WOMEN WITH IUDs
No idea if this works. Only found out upon receipt, after reading the whole instruction leaflet, on the last page it says: Do not use with an IUD! Also had to wait several weeks to get it....Update: As I've now had my iud taken out and still had these in my drawer unused, I thought I'd give them a go. Insertion was easy enough as I'd used a contraceptive diaphragm many years ago, so was familiar with the squeeze, tilt down and back for popping it in. However, no amount of of wriggling it around could get it to cover my cervix! Needless to say, it subsequently leaked. Also the ring is a rather unpleasant hard plastic and the collection plastic is an even nastier slightly crackly plastic. .. almost like a clear crisp packet!? Although I do have a slightly tilted womb, I've never had trouble fitting a cap over it before. I just can't get one of these positioned correctly so it actually would do what it's supposed to.

Insertion is surprisingly easy even for a beginner
To review this product honestly I must state that this was my first use so I will write this based on what I found. Further uses and the more you use them may change my view. Ok so I must say that upon opening the product I was gob smacked at the size lol but plz don't let this put you off. Insertion is surprisingly easy even for a beginner. I decided to try it on s medium flow day and only for a few hours to see how it went. My first thought was I was comfortable to wear and seemed to be doing exactly what it said on the tin however after an hour I did leak ever so slightly but that could've been through it only been my first time (they do take getting used to and practice makes perfect so they say) second time I used all went ok but at this point I still wasn't brave enough to go out. The only down side I found was its quite messy upon removing and defiantly not for the faint hearted ! The other down side I found was they are meant to be safe to use during intercourse. Although there was no leakage it was uncomfortable for my partner. Overall with more practice I think this product is quite good .mi will try post an update after a few months practice.

Softcups are great
Used softcups for two cycles now and I love them, so much easier and cheaper than tampons!Getting the position of them inside right does take a bit of practice and if you don't have it positioned properly it can hurt but once it is in the correct position you will completely forget that you are wearing it.I am very happy that I have tried Softcup now and I very much doubt I will be moving back to tampons.
