Power Lung Trainer
I'm fairly surprised there are no reviews for this product yet. I love it. My husband purchased this for himself last year and used it off and on for several months, he wasn't consistent and said he felt silly using it in front of others. Even still he stated that he could definitely feel a difference in how easily he breathed during and after hard physical activity. My usual exercise routine involves walking with the dog (or kid) and perhaps a little bit of toning with weights. I don't feel to unhealthy but know that I am not actually in shape (so far as stamina or running type activities). So this month I am starting to do the Couch to 5k program and I asked him if I could borrow it for awhile. I felt that my fish out of water gasping for air might be helped if this thing worked the way he said that it did.I have been using it for all of THREE days, ... Today was day three of the running program,(alternating 60 seconds running, 90 seconds fast walking for a total of 20 minutes) I immediately noticed a difference. Monday I was gasping for air by my second running session, 2.5 minutes into things. Today I was able to get all the way to the end with very little breathing issues, I was NOT gasping for air. There are also adjustment levels on it (for difficulty so that the trainer can grow with your level of fitness). The trainer is very easy to use (there are great instructional videos on youtube) and it's easy to set aside a few minutes twice a day to do it. I am amazed at how quickly I saw results with it, and would recommend it to anyone who is not quite in perfect shape and looking to start working out.

Using it with results...
I can't measure it but if I could I believe there'd be a big difference in my lung power. I got the green model and going on 62 years old I have cranked up the adjust knobs pretty high and feeling good when I go out to climb a tough, long hill on the bike. Is small enough to put in your pocketvut you'll need to try to keep it clean. I recommend this to any athlete looking for a quick fix with breathing to help himself get over the hump. My only complaint is that it is a little pricey for what you get.

I ordered the green power lung and I received the blue one. I had to return it. :(

Difficult to get started
I've been setting aside money to be able to purchase, once I did I was excited, but I've found it to be difficult to setup for the first time, the videos are very poor quality from power lung. The sounds that you are looking for it all sounds the same weather it easy or difficult setting, so far I have been using it as Rx for about a month and have not found any improvements in my breathing or my run. I have called Power Lung and they say just watch the videos, and if no change call them back. Will keep trying to see if improvements happen.

PowerLung
I think that this is a great poduct. It is not easy but, you have to use it in order to get better. As a firefighter I have been able to notice an improvement in my lung capacity. I have and will continue to recommend this product.

Yes get the Trainer before the Sport
I was on the fence between the Trainer and Sport. Opted for the trainer after talking to the Powerlung people. Even if you are in great shape its better IMHO to ramp up rather than blowing a gasket straining.Think about when you do a lift. Even if you are doing a max lift with a squat or deadlift you warm up. For me the Trainer is the warmup / ramp up phase. I can get the Sport later.Been using for a couple of weeks now fairly regularly. Last week was traveling without much opportunity to workout. Yesterday grappled at my gym and did not feel like I lost much of a step.Pros: Good design. Ability to increase or decrease difficulty for training or warmup. Excellent instructional DVDCon: Prefer a different color. Also the picture is not accurate, it is green with a black body. Looks better than depicted. I think that's another reason why I looked at the trainer so much because preferred the color. I'm going to list this as a con but I don't like the proprietary wash. However on the other hand I can understand that if you tested a bunch of washes you might patent your own. Would prefer more of a this is the ideal but if run out can use something else.Overall I would recommend. A few deep breaths are a great way to start and end any day.

Awesome for singing and swimming
I'm a singer and swimmer. I was out of swimming for a while and this really helped get my breathing back in shape. It also forces you to really sing/speak with proper support when vocalizing. It is quite pricey, but it really does work differently than the other models because it's a 'threshold' resistance. The others are more like an exercise band where you pull it however hard you want and you get movement, whereas this is more like doing an olympic lift, you have to fire the muscles all out to the resistance level you set to get the air way open similar to how you need to do that to get the bar up over your head, you can't just gradually lift the olympic bar up.

Great way to get some extra diaphram training
Great breathing trainer. You can get some diaphram breating training at home laying in bed,at your computer desk or at the kitchen table. It's a great way to get a good breathing workout when you may not have the time to go out and get a hard run in for the day or even a way to get a little two-a-day in without wearing your legs out.I definitely recommend this to someone who has a pretty good running pace, it is a tough workout and there are easier once out there that you can get started on and build up to the tougher breathing trainers.
