It gets pushed around by the wind pretty easily! We took my boat out over the ...
I ordered this unit on Wednesday and had it by that Friday. Thanks to Prime, shipping was free. A huge bonus for an item this large and heavy! The installation was a breeze, but the mounting bolts are huge. None of that is important to you though. Here's what matters.... I have a 2014 Tracker Pro Guide v-175 Combo. It gets pushed around by the wind pretty easily! We took my boat out over the weekend, after installing the Motorguide Xi5, in winds upwards of 20mph at times. The anchor lock feature worked great. We tossed a marker bouy out and it held very close to that the entire time. Never experienced any "yo-yo" effects that plagued my previous TM made by MK. The heading lock also worked great, and rarely ever needed any correction. I can't begin to tell you how much less stressful controlling my boat is now. I was worried that I would regret this purchase, but so far it feels FAR superior to my MK equivalent motor that this replaced. If you're on the fence, don't be. This is a great product, and it sounds like they are continuing to enhance its features... Took out yesterday; another very windy day. It handled the water like a champ! Pros: Easy to install, anchor lock works GREAT (if you want to sit completely still, then you're better off using a real anchor or power pole), the heading lock is great. The motor is so quite I can barely tell it's on (unless on high speed), and it deploys and stows very easily. We can do it with one hand. My MK PDv2, it was like wrestling a bear to get that thing back in the boat at times... Cons: The remote - no indicator that the motor is on, and no way of telling what setting the motor is on. The bolts that come with the installation package are HUGE. I had to go buy bolts about half the size in order to install this. Not a big deal, and I get why they come with those bolts... but it's a con, none the less. Very touchy controls, turns really fast! Not sure it's fair to call this a con, as I'm just not used to it. The gateway is a separate purchase @ $250, and it's essentially just an adapter cable. *** Update *** I have had this unit for over a year now. By itself it is great... Paired with my Lowrance HDS7 Gen3, it is awesome. With one exception, the autopilot feature has some kind of bug. It will either get to a way point and just decide it's going to anchor lock you, or worse... go into what we refer to as "flip mode" where it cranks the motor to full throttle and just goes all out bat%!%@ crazy. It's a minor thing really, but can be very frustrating when you can't just focus on the fishing. Everything else about this unit is awesome.

Great trolling motor!
Great trolling motor. I only got out once with it so far. As mentioned in the reviews, the pedal is VERY different from conventional mechanical steer pedals. Definitely takes a lot of getting used to. I found that tapping the pedal to point the motor in the direction you want to go was ideal. Leaving your foot on the pedal causes it to make drastic and erratic direction changes due to how sensitive the pedal is. I also agree with other reviews stating you can't really use the momentary on button on the pedal sure to the same reason I just mentioned. Leaving it on continuous mode and tapping the pedal to make small course corrections and periodically adjusting the speed knob (which is very easy to adjust with your foot - much easier than my old minn kota edge) is the way to go. Built in sonar doesn't seem to support the down and side imaging on my humminbird helix but I'm still toying with that. I love the anchor mode and coordinate lock! This has made fishing far more enjoyable already! So far I really enjoy this motor and highly recommend it! Update After 3 Months: This trolling motor has been awesome! Can't imaging fishing without it now! Got used to the pedal, but do use the remote control that came with it quite a bit as well. I have this on my 17 ft procraft bass boat. The 80 lb thrust moves the boat very well. I like being able to push the anchor mode when I catch a fish so I can focus on landing the fish instead of focusing on keeping the boat off shore or rocks. Using the navigation lock or what ever they call it is a great feature as well. You can set a course and set speed and it will maintain both no matter what the current or wind is doing. Great for a long straight shoreline. Also works great to allow you to spend more time fishing with your friends/family on the boat. Spend less time steering the boat. Only complaint is that i have a side and down imaging fishfinder up front but the transducer built into the trolling motor didn't support that. I made an attachment to hang the side imaging transducer off the bow when i want the side imaging. Other than this issue, i am very happy with the trolling motor. One of the best purchases I've made!

Best trolling motor in the game
I was on the fence about getting this motor, the lowrance ghost, and the minn kota. I should mention I am running Lowrance live graphs and I wanted the option to follow routes. Getting on with it, the installation was very easy and programming the center point was very easy. Connecting this motor up to the Lowrance graph you have to purchase the optional communication cord. But it is very easy to install. I got this motor out on the water and I wanted to try the spot lock. All I can say is wow! I’ve been on my buddies boat with the minnkota and his spot lock worked on. We did drift several yards above and below where we wanted to fish. I enabled spot lock and it was like putting on the brakes. It held the 18 stratos in the spot and never moved over a 2ft area. I only have one bad thing to say and it is I wish I had gotten this motor sooner
