I loved this book!
After watching The Crown on Netflix, I can't get enough of the Queen. It's amazing to me how normal they were in their personal life, and "Royal Sisters" is more about the personal relationships than the Monarchy. I recommend this book to anyone who has an interest in the Royal family.

Nothing new about the sisters
The first two sample chapters convinced me to buy the book. The following chapters were a repetition of Her book, the Matriarch. I was more interested in what i didn't know about her life before her demise.

A multifaceted look behind the scenes of palace relationships
It was so interesting to learn more about the royal sisters' lives and loves in this well researched account of what histories omit ... The human and emotional toll that government and monarchy required of these historic figures

Good read!
Insight into the lives of HM Queen Elizabeth and her sister, Princess Margaret: their lives during WWII, their loves, marriages, children. Well-written in Anne Edwards' usual meticulous style, delightful to read. This book answers many questions about growing up and living Royal: its demands and privileges.

You are not really running this country.
In reading this book. It just showed how Elizabeth was not good for her role with her shyness. Margaret was very outgoing but don’t think she could not have handled all the restrictions. Not an easy job.

Good book... but ends when Margaret turns 25. Where’s the rest of the story?
Very well-written book but misleading description, as this book takes us only up to Margaret’s 25th year and then... it ends. The relationship between the sisters, I presume, continued to be complicated, but this boom won’t tell you about that.

NOTHING NEW LEARNED
I thought the author would have some new insight into the relationship between the Queen and PM .In fact, every detail in this book, every decision, is so well documented in other books, it begs the question why bother writing a book whose contents could have been lifted from almost any other book .It focuses far too much on the well documented minutiae of the abdication and the various relationships between the Royal siblings of King George V and Queen Mary.Whilst not uninteresting, these are nothing to do with the relationship between the two sisters .Then the book ends abrupt at the point where PM gives up GC Peter Townsend . The Queen and PM’s life after this point still continued so why wasn’t that explored in this lengthy tome .All in all,a fabulous disappointment- but I guess there is no material to provide a book that details the relationship up to and including PM’s sad decline until her death .....Better books out there - don’t waste money buying stuff that’s already in the public domain and has simply been collated to make money .Even the title is misleading .l.l

Royal Sisters: Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Margaret
Another fascinating read by Anne Edwards. What a different world we live in now and how things have changed - for the better. There certainly seems to have been a certain amount of hypocrisy and double standards regarding Princess Margaret's and Captain Townsend's relationship. Such a shame. They really did love one another and I feel would have been very happy together had circumstances been different. I don't think she was truly happy afterwards as her relationships proved.Jackie Bailey

Good read, well researched
A very different angle for this subject. Very detailed and more about the people than the history - well researched. I have many, many bookson our royal family and can honestly say this takes a different angle than others. The nursery set up info is particularly interesting as is theauthors take on the abdication and her view of the abdicating king. She is seems to have researched this area very well. All in all a goodread - would mention that a book of this weight should really be hard back - would be more manageable.

Being an avid reader on Royalty from Queen Victoria to present day royals, I find this book very insightful, especially on P Margaret & Peter Townsend. If you enjoy reading on the royals, you will definitely enjoy this book.
