A favorite Sondheim musical, Into the Woods was nominated for ten Tony Awards when it debuted on Broadway in 1988. There are 36 tracks on this album: Tracks 1-18 contain the background tracks and guide vocals; tracks 19-36 contain the background tracks alone. This album is a re-recording in the original show key and show tempo. There are no on-screen lyrics or lyric booklet provided with this album.

Very good teaching tool - not for critical listening
I used this as a teaching tool when I was Music Director for a community theater production this year. Having both vocals and non-vocal accompaniment worked well to that end. Only two things kept this from being 5-star:- Some arrangements vary from the score you get (so check it carefully)- While many of the singers were decent, some were really average. I'll let you decide who is in each category.But overall, worth the investment and a useful learning tool.

This is not a karaoke cd.
I purchased this item believing it to be a karaoke disc. It is not. It is an "accompaniment cd". It does not have graphic lyrics like a karaoke cd does. It came up under the search for karaoke and was purchased by mistake.

Good quality applicable to the full recording along with the background CD.
The quality of this full performance and background CD's set is very good. This is appropriate for more advanced music lovers and this set can be used for personal recording activities or Karaoke set ups as well. The only thing missing is a booklet that includes the lyrics applicable to all the songs included on this set. This is excellent for more advanced music lovers and I will try to get the lyrics online or from the issuer.
