D.R.Harris & Co Windsor Beech Shaving Bowl & Shaving Soap

The title of the review is on the label to describe the soap.This is the newest entry in the company’s line of shaving soaps developed to commemorate Queen Elizabeth’s reign.The scent is described as a “sweet orange” or “citrus and grapefruit” with all agreeing that it changes to a fresh herb with an undercurrent of black pepper.This complex scent is difficult if not impossible to describe.Like all D R Harris scents, it will not linger to intrude on your day.This high-quality shaving soap makes a good lather with little effort.The attractive wood bowl is the right size to hold in your hand and will not become slippery when being used.Refills are available allowing you to reuse the bowl.I am a big fan of D R Harris shaving soaps and really like the Marlboro and Arlington scents.I cannot say the same thing about this scent, while nice it not replaced.My bowl is lighter than the one pictured and is closer to the bowl shown on the Arlington page.

My last order lasted 12-months, so the product's high cost is reasonable when you consider the life of the product. Even if it wasn't as long-lasting, I'd buy it anyway as it performs so well. It produces a peerless smooth shave.The scent is pleasant but dissipates after I'm finished shaving, so there's no residual cologne smell. The wood box looks nice if you want to give this as a gift, but for the user, it's nearly useless. At least for me, a shaving mug/cup is required for use. If you want to use this for travel you'll definitely need a different container.

Surprisingly good. This was an impulse purchase and has become my favorite. It is a more dignified Truefitt & Hill Trafalgar. A bit lighter meaning it's not as musky but still masculine. The scent stands out but not too much. All DR Harris soaps perform well.Honestly, Windsor is a must try.

Fantastic soap, it's luxurious lather gives a nice cushion and a lovely citrus scent. This is not a artisan soap. Will rank it equal or better than artisan soaps. The beech bowl is well made and the lid makes a nice rest for the bowl. Remember to let the bowl dry.

Really good product- but more expensive than other products that work the same, or better, for me. There is absolutely no problem with this product. In the future I'll use Cella and save!

Whether you use the lovely wooden dish or a traditional shaving mug, the beauty of this soap is that it's not for whipping into a lather in situ - this will simply waste it. Rather this soap should be used with a quality shaving brush (e.g. best badger) which when wet will lift some un-lathered soap from the top of the cake and allow a beautiful lather to be whipped up by vigorous brushing of the face. The result is simply perfect. Try it, you'll see.

A little pricey but it foams up really well and has a nice scent. My husband seems to like it! I wanted to get him a high quality soap to ensure a smooth transition from cans of shaving cream to bar soap + disposable razors to safety razor. This seems to have done the trick. He doesn't complain about the foam at all, and I prefer the new scent.

My Dad loves this stuff and asked me to get it for him again for Xmas.
