Drawer Hydraulic Adapter

Added these to the kitchen drawers, which are Blum hardware, so the measurements were easy. It would be equally simple to use these with drawers that were not using Blum parts.

Seemed to be reasonably robust but tough to determine how to install.

Too much work to install.

To be fair, I used this device to close a drawer that holds two trash receptacles in my kitchen. This drawer can get pretty heavy and I needed to mount one on each side of the drawer for it to work. I had to modify the mounting because I didn't have the room on each side of the drawer to accommodate these adapters. Once I figured out where I was going to mount them I ended up using Contact Tape (a 3M produce) to attach them to the side of the cabinet. No screws, no drilling, no fuss; it worked well. Bottom line, two worked well but you have to be very exact to align both exactly the same. If they aren't aligned, one will catch before the other and they don't work very smoothly.

Relatively easy to install and does the job, even on large and heavy drawers. Installation instructions could be a little more detailed.

These hydraulic dampers work fine when in place, but I found them difficult to install, and I'm pretty handy and have good tools to work with. I had to rip to size and glue in wood blocking within the cabinet to shim over and mount the dampers close to the side of the drawer where they need to be to work properly. It was a fair amount of trial and error for each and every drawer.Once they are finally in they work OK. Not as smooth as those in top-of-the-line cabinetry, but not bad and a good upgrade to cheaper cabinets.The dampers themselves seem OK, its just that trying to make a product like this a universal fit-all item won't work without some extra custom work on the part of the installer.

I can't see a way to attach this to a frame style cabinet. The device looks fairly well-made, but I will have to find another use for it.
