This is my first time trying an Ultra Short Throw projector and I must say I am impressed. Not only does the JMGO O1 Pro projector allow me to project to larger screens while being a mere inches away from the wall/screen, it has an awesome set of speakers that generate sounds (sample video attached) that fill the whole room. It is also super bright with 1500 ANSI Lumens and shows off quite well even in a completely dark environment. My previous projector, while being smaller, needed to be much farther away to project such a large screen which meant I couldn't use it in smaller rooms, but this completely overcomes that limitation and now allows me to have a dedicated home theater in my home. It comes with a remote to control the projector while being far away from it, but you can also download the JMGO app on your mobile device and use it as a remote too. One of the best features of this projector is the automatic keystone correction - it ensures the screen you are watching is straight and in a perfect rectangular shape no matter how your projector is positioned in relation to the projected surface. One of the coolest features is the availability of an app store on the projector itself. It has all the apps you would expect like YouTube, Netflix, Prime Video, HBO, and many many more to allow you to enjoy hours of entertainment without the need for another device. The JMGO O1 Pro comes pre loaded with Luna OS that supports Movie Mode and Companion Mode. In Movie Mode you can use it as a regular projector, connecting external sources, using apps from its app store and more. In Companion Mode, it converts into a beautiful dynamic mode where you can display artworks, digital clock, music visualization, etc. It also has Amazon Alexa built in and you can initiate voice commands by pressing the microphone button on the remote. Another very important feature is the Eye Protection Mode, which detects people approaching the projector and automatically dims the light source and shows a warning to prevent the lasers from damaging someone's eyes. This is a very important feature especially if you have kids around. The only thing I wish that could change about this projector is its size, but otherwise this is a perfect projector with amazing sound and visual capabilities that compare to much more expensive projectors.

We originally bought the cheaper version of this and returned it because it was too dim. We just did like some features of the device so we decided to give it a chance and went for the upgraded version hoping that it would be brighter but it truly is just too dim. I regret not taking a photo of the projection side-by-side with the current projector that we have but that’s how we tested the brightness and you just couldn’t see any features on anything that was even slightly dark compared to our seven year old projector which is an Optima by the way. We really wanted a short throw projector because our new house doesn’t have a great place to mount a projector from across the room, but this is not the one. We plan to return it just like we returned the last one. Too bad though, they really do look nice! One other thing to note. When we initially set it up and this was true for the other model as well, there was a weird warp in the image that was projected. There’s this feature when you get there app where you’re supposed to be able to fix it but it took over 100 tries to get it to finally stop having the war. That was super frustrating. I took a picture of the error message we got and the warp so you can see for yourself. We did finally correct it but it legitimately took about 100 times of retaking a photo and submitting it , and then if you change any settings, you have to go through the whole process again. That alone made me not stoked about this projector. If that was the only issue and it was really bright, I think I suffer through the annoying process to fix the warp in the projection but unfortunately it’s also super dark.

Update: They have released software updates that have drastically improved the user experience, specifically when it comes to the “image flattening” feature. It works much more smoothly now and I don’t have to retry it a bunch of times anymore. The only thing I wish they would change is allowing me to use the image flattening feature to auto adjust the projection, AND then let me manually resize it to fit my screen. Currently I can only do one or the other, but if i could manually adjust the corners while maintaining the auto adjusted settings from the image flattening, this would be 5 stars. Original review: If you see this projector being offered for less than $1,000, i’d say it’s probably worth it. I’ve found that the brightness, picture quality, sound, etc are all more than good enough for a quality viewing experience (Note: if you find that the image isn’t bright enough, don’t use one of the preset options. Select “user” and customize the image settings and you’ll find that the projector can be much brighter than any of the default options). The fan is also pretty quiet for the most part. The missing stars are mainly for the setup process, specifically the screen image flattening which is almost never successful until the 30th try. Without it, the screen looks warped so it’s just a big inconvenience whenever i need to do it. Luckily it (usually) remembers the setting with each use, but sometimes i have to spend 15 minutes trying again. If that inconvenience was removed this would definitely be a 4 star review (and 5 if the price was lower). There are built in apps that can be downloaded for free for most of the major streaming platforms (netflix, max, disney+, etc.) although I’ve found it more convenient to just plug in my chromecast and do everything through that like I would on my TV. Screen sharing is also available directly to the projector, although, once again, I’ve found sharing to my chromecast to be more reliable and convenient.

This projector claimed that it is a 1080P FHD UST projector, and it seems cheaper than most short throw projectors, for budget reasons I wanted to try this. The shipping packaging arrived soon, it is designed with a round aesthetic appearance and looks cool, comes with remote control, HDMI cable and power cable. I put it about one fist distance away from my living room wall and it auto throws out a big crisp image after turning it on, PERFECT SHORT THROW. The picture is bright and vivid even when stretched up to a 110" size screen (equipped with autofocus and manual zoom function) , and I can stream all of my favourite movies and sports lives by fire tv stick, low blue mode is an awesome feature for my 6-year-old son to watch cartoons and protect his eyes. The built-in speakers are loud enough to fill up my living room easily, but if friends come to my house for a party, it would be better to connect the soundbar thru Bluetooth. In general, I am satisfied with the jmgo O1 pro projector, a great UST projector that is worth a try.

The ultra short throw on the projector is great, and not having to worry about someone walking in front of the projector is a win. However, after only a couple weeks the auto keystone went crazy. At first the image was perfectly sized on the wall mounted screen, but then it suddenly was skewed and the top of the image was smaller than the bottom, and we couldn't even get the image sized into the screen using manual keystone. The folks in JMGO service just kept sending the same generic responses to make sure the screen was flat (it is a stretched and mounted perfectly flat screen), or to try turning auto keystone on/off, or other basic stuff. Nothing really useful, we ultimately had to play with manual settings until we could get it to a point we could be satisfied. Still not great. Now, the Disney plus app wanted to update but the projector would just say installing but never update, their response was to reset the projector or to use a firestick. Why are you suggesting I use a firestick when your projector is supposed to be able to support these apps? Furthermore, the projector really does not do apps well, so just plan on a firestick in the long run. Ultimately, the projector is pretty good, but it is not GREAT! And service from JMGO needs some help.
