I have a skier thumb injury and putting off the surgery. This is the best thumb splinter I have found. It's comfortable and allows me to still do my computer work. I do have to wear a glove over it when cleaning so it doesn't get wet or dirty. The sleeve inside is washable too.

Great! I use this to help my thumb that I sometimes lose control in, so it's nice to have something that actually holds it in place unlike the more fabric-like braces. The left and right definitely matter as well because of how it is made

This brace does give me support right where I need it. However, the edges were quite jagged and sharp and it scratched me the first time I put it on. I had to use fine sandpaper and an Xacto knife to make the edges smooth. Also, the part where the strap feeds through is very weak and fragile and I only used it a few days before it gave out. Now I have to try and figure out a way to keep it together. Because this is a medical product, and because of how much it costs, I expect better. Whoever designed this product needs to do a better revision of the product and whoever is in charge of quality assurance may want to review their quality control policies and procedures. UPDATE: I've now only used the brace 4 days and already the Velcro is coming apart because it's glued and not sewn. Now I have to deal with that. It's sad that I can't leave a better review because this is the only brace I've found that supports where I need it, but the quality is extremely disappointing.

This is meant to immobilize and stabilize the thumb. Which it definitely does very well! It will allow you to move your thumb very slightly so you still maintain ability to grasp/pinch/hold things. However, the design is not conducive to any activity that also requires you flex your wrist a lot. I needed to wear this to stabilize my thumb, but I needed to wear it during activities that also required wrist flexion. The end of the brace sits well below the base of the thumb (supporting the CMC joint), so any wrist flexion causes the brace to compress against the wrist. This end of the brace is thin but rigid, so the first couple of times this happens, no big deal.... but repeated contact against the wrist and you'll start to notice abrasions/bruising before you know it. I was even wearing the provided sleeve to help, which definitely helped with the abrasions but it didn't do much to keep my wrist from getting sore from the continuous contact against the edge of the brace. Only knocking off 1 star - because it definitely is a high quality brace and it immobilizes and stabilizes the thumb very well! It's pretty comfortable and supportive as long as you keep your wrists neutral... ...If you find yourself needing wrist flexion like I did, might want to consider sizing down (although based on the sizing recommendations, this wouldn't have worked for me as I never would have been able to get my thumb through the opening as it barely fits through the current size). So, other than a little limitation in terms of it's application, never-the-less, this is a high quality product that works very well as described.

I first bought a size medium, but then changed it for a small (my thumb circumference measurement was right on the border for both). The M was a bit large (per my physiotherapist), but the S is very tight - I sometimes struggle to pull out my thumb - but, the snug fit does seem to stabilize my thumb better. I have OA, and it does seem to help the pain (especially when working out at the gym.) The only thing is that it's a bit uncomfortable, as it sits right by the bone on the wrist. Given that I also have some wrist pain, it does not really support my wrist like another soft brace I have (and which I prefer to wear at night.) I do like that this is not bulky, so I can easily where it under a gardening glove, giving me the needed support when weeding and doing other yard work.
