Telling God's Story: The Biblical Narrative from Beginning to End Hardcover – August 1, 2013

Wow, and double Wow! I would readily have paid the hardcover price while I was in Seminary and counted it cheap! For anyone who wants a solid background of the book that has influenced thousands of years of faith, this is one of the best resources I have found!It begins with an overview that takes you through the Bible story as a whole, in one short chapter. This chapter is like looking at the picture on a puzzle box, showing you what all of those pieces you are looking at are about and helping to fit them in. Then it breaks down the Old And New Testaments, and finally goes back to the beginning and puts more details into the story by focusing on the themes found within the overall story.You will come out of reading this book better informed and with a solid Biblical understanding. it is written in easy to understand English, and is designed to maximize knowledge. It has my highest recommendation

This is one of the best books I've ever read in a while. It's very detailed, yet simple to read. It has been a great tool in both my personal spiritual life and ministry.

I wasn't sure about this when I ordered it but oh my goodness!!! I love this book. I use each chapter as a daily bible study but sometimes it turns into a 2 day study ! Very well written, great read for people who are knowledgeable or beginners in the Bible. Highly recommend . I will be buying these as gifts in the future!

This is an amazing book. I order it but have not read it because my 90 yr old Mom got her hands on it first. It's been over a month and she said this was such a wonderful book. It quite different from other bibles. Biblical Illustrator Magazine gave it a 9 out of 10. They let all the writers read it and they grade the book. I might have to order another one so I can start reading for myself.

Ok how can you go from Creation to Abraham in a few paragraphs and completely leave out the main adversary of the story, Satan? That is a critical piece that sets up the overarching theme of the bible and ties the whole thing together from Genesis to Revelation. If you leave that out and/or de-emphasize Satan's role then you will miss the real point of the story. I found that omission alarming so I checked out other strategic sections and it appears to me that the authors barely mention Satan. The salvation themes of the bible cannot be clearly understood without Satan in his proper context.You can paraphrase a story and make it sound great without being true to the author's intent. Hollywood does it all the time when turning good books into film. I urge caution here. Is this just a good read ? Is it an accurate reflection of God's story ? I wanted it to be both a good read AND accurate. But how can it be if the authors don't handle one of the main characters accurately from the beginning ?

This is a great book for both new Christians and old! This book takes you very quickly through the entire Bible in very easy-to-understand writing. The author also brings a lot of information to the table that you may not have thought about in all of your years of reading the Bible. I absolutely loved this. I would highly recommend this to everyone.

This book is more than a commentary, it is a wealth of insight and guidance for understanding the true nature of God. The book helps the reader to more fully understand God's purpose and perfect plan for mankind.

This tell the whole biblical story without diverting from the Bible. I have studied a little of this and a little of that, but this follows the full story. I highly recommend it!

This book achieves exactly what the the authors intended, giving a very clear overview of how God has revealed Himself to mankind. Highly recommended for those with little Bible knowledge,new believers and those who would seek to know the God of the Bible.
