This furoshiki features a playful calico cat whiling away a hot summer day. This scene is based on a design by the artist Hiromi Sato and in typical fashion she has embellished a palette of vibrant hues with traditional Japanese patterns. Look closely and you'll see a repeat wave motif called 'seigaiha' and a repeat geometric design that resembles stars called 'asanoha.' The 'furin' wind chime is a fixture of summer and is said to bring a feeling of coolness with its soft tinkling. There's a hint of a 'sudare' blind made of reeds at the top, and the old wooden walkway that overlooks a garden bursting with sunflowers is called an 'engawa.' Even the clouds bring summer memories to mind, as they're reminiscent of thunderhead clouds that come with summer in Japan. The weave has a textured finish.
