Ok, to address the elephant is the room...yes, they have quite a pronounced rubber smell...initially. The smell goes away after sitting out of the packaging in about an hour. I appreciate that some people are very sensitive to smell, so I'd recommend sitting them out in the open/outdoors for a bit before installing/handling. Having said that, these pads act as great vibration isolators! I bought these to use for a new turntable I purchased (Denon's magnificent VL12 Prime!). I currently have these pads under a 1" Top Chop maple butch block that I use as the turntable's platform. The pads isolate the platform & turntable from my rack surface. To further isolate the turntable, I then sat it on top of four Vibrapods (Model 4). This has resulted in not only a rock-solid, ultra-damped foundation for my turntable, but allows it to perform with better. The noise levels are markedly lower, tracking more precise and the sound is fuller with more extension. It's no secret that vibration can ruin sound, especially in something as "touchy" as a turntable. These pads are a cheap way of really improving the sound of your set-up without spending money on new gear or modifications. These worked great. I had a spot on my floor that would send vibrations up through to my turntable. I didn't want to move it for access to plug, other things, all that. It didn't work well directly under the turntable, but I put it under the case it's on and that took care of about 90% of the vibration. Not perfect, so four stars, but definitely happy with the result.

Thank goodness for these things! I live above the boiler room of our condo, and they have giant blowers that circulate fresh air through the building night and day. These create a vibration that has come up through my bed, making it difficult to sleep. Placing one of these under each leg of my bed has damped the vibrations completely! I highly recommend them.

Using these to quiet down noisy enterprise drives in my NAS, they work great went from highly annoying hard drive noise to hardly noticeable. Also I haven't had any odor issues that other buyers brought up.

These should be sold with all-in-one washer dryer machines. None of the feet and mats sold for that purpose worked to stop the violent vibrations. I intended these pads for a 2nd floor dehumidifier as the rumble from the machine was audible downstairs. While the pads did reduce the rumble significantly the smell from these things is horendous. I read a few other reviews mentioning the strong odor but thought they may have been exaggerating. No exaggeration! These things are pungent!!! I took them out of the box and scrubbed them down with a soap and a toothbrush (no, I'm not a compulsive neat freak). I didn't want to use a detergent-based cleaner in case it harmed the cork or plastic/rubber adhesive. It made a small difference. However, the chemical smell is so strong that, even with my allergies being active and clogging my nose, I can smell these things throughout the whole upstairs after only 20 minutes being unboxed and cleaned. while my eyes are also irritated, leaving the upstairs allowed my eyes to return to normal. I did test the sound of the dehumidifier using these. It really reduces the unwanted sound. However, the intense odor about did me in. I have the pads sitting outside as I am hoping the chemicals will outgas making them usable. My concern is that the cork material, being porous, has absorbed the chemicals making them a permenant smell in the product. If not for that HUGE drawback I would give these 5 stars.

I have a wood floor with a crawl space. I had to walk gingerly while playing vinyl. I was impressed that these little baby's reduced the amount of skippage.

I am using these to quiten an external drive with a bunch of HDDs in it. These do help the sound from traveling through the floor as loudly but not as much as expected. I am not 100% convinced they were worth the cost.

I placed these pads under a cooling fan to reduce vibration in the bedroom. They absorb vibration and prevent spreading through the walls and floors. Only thing I would suggest is take measurements of objects you intend to use these pads for. They look bigger than they are . They're about the size of a glass coaster.
