Two Characters with More Issues Than Vogue
I am not sure why some romance authors feel that fans of this genre have a lower IQ than the rest of the reading population. The assumption is that readers need to be hit over the head with the same information multiple times in order to grasp it. In this novel, the author has the characters think something and then say the exact same thing to someone else a few pages later. This happened so often I began to wonder if it was a ploy to turn a novella into a novel. Certainly there wasn't a strong enough plot to carry a whole book since the "necklace" storyline was enough to make the Hardy Boys blush with shame. Our hero and heroine managed to cure a many years of familial damage through one conversation with each of their nefarious fathers. I have only read two books by this author yet in both, the heroine has a deadbeat dad come back into her life after a decade's absence.Paucity of plot and Sesame Street psychobabble aside, readers are expected to believe that if an airport is shut down in St. Lucia due to an oncoming hurricane, that a private jet could make the nine hour trip from Miami to St. Lucia and be allowed to land. Hmmm.... so the heroine can't leave the island because of the storm, but Puffy the magic jet can make it safely half a day later while the airport is still closed. More eye-rolling was caused when the private jet is used as a reason that our heroine wouldn't need a passport to leave St. Lucia and enter the U.S. No passport??? Must be that cool rule where rich people don't need passports. Ha!There were multiple references to how much better the U.S. was than St. Lucia. 'Unlike an American-run place with generators and general preparedness, the staff was more concerned with getting themselves home than with the welfare of their patients." As if all the doctors and nurses in a non-American hospital would leave their patients. Darn those pesky 'ferriners'. The island was in the middle of a hurricane warning, yet the H and h complain they didn't get a fast enough response to a mugging and were upset not to have better room service. Maybe this author should leave her characters at home in the good old U. S. of A.The hero refers to himself many times as an a$$ and he is right. There is little in the way of romance in this novel. This guy just isn't a great romantic hero. He was 15 when he first met the heroine as a 10 year old. Eight years later they have such a lousy sexual encounter (her first) that she is scarred for life. "In that instant, viewing the damage he'd done to her young psyche up close and personal, Tyler hated himself." Yeah, this is the man of my dreams. Don't be looking for eloquence from this guy. "She ;might have been hospitalized, but she still smelled pure female." GAK!! Then he asks himself "What kind of perv gets an erection when a hurt, unconscious woman lay trustingly against him." Our hero!Keep in mind that these two deserve each other. Our heroine's favorite refrain is "Woe is me". The author has given her a childhood worthy of Charles Dickens, but just after a friend sends a private plane along with a security expert to rescue her she complains that "Nobody would protect her. Nobody would look after her, except herself." As if being in a luxury resort with a concussion was a hardship to begin with and a private jet to sent soley for you was proof as a life without any support. Both the lead characters sing the favorite romance trope "I am not worthy" throughout the book and sadly, they are both right.Oddly, both the H and h develop some kind of strange amnesia. She is mugged, has her hotel room tossed, and her apartment broken into and she FORGETS to follow up on the mysterious necklace related to all these incidents, despite the fact that the author drops clues the size of blue whales. Then the hero FORGETS that the love of his life has a father in prison with a terminal illness. The final insult is a gratuitous epilogue whose primary purpose is to introduce new characters for upcoming books.

To see Tyler facing his demons and fighting for Ella was well done. Mutually Tyler and Ella slayed their dragons and they were able to move on with their future.DARE TO TAKE, the last installment in Carly Phillips' Dare To Love series was beautifully written. So happy that Ella/Tylet and the rest of the Dare family got their HEAs. Sad to see this series end but I'm happy to have been a part of this unforgettable journey alongside Carly Phillips and the Dares. 5++++

Two strong people who think they will be hurt if they love.
This is the story of Tyler Dare & Ella Shaw. Tyler is co-partners in a security company with his brother Scott. Ella works for a designing company. They knew each other years ago when she though she made a fool of herself by throwing herself at him. She has loved Tyler for years. She is best friends with Tyler's sister, Avery. They stayed away from each other as much as possible. Since then, they didn't get along very well. Ella gets mugged in the Caribbean and ends up in the hospital, and Avery asks if Tyler can go get her on Ian's (his brother) private jet. He goes even though there is a hurricane expected. They are extremely attracted to one another. From there they have many ups and downs. Someone is looking for something she has, but she doesn't have any idea what it is. This is where the action in the story begins. Many issues arise and Tyler swears to keep her safe. There is a happy ending, too. You must read this book to feel it. Carly Phillips does an exceptional job portraying the story line. I look forward to reading more of her books.

On top of that Ellie has always had an interest in Tyler from a young age, but she always thought it one sided and he broke her heart. Now she needs help, someone is targeting her and she doesn't know why. A great story with a bit of mystery thrown in to keep it interesting, we get glimpses of the rest of the Dare family as well as some surprises. This is a love story and its one you almost cross your fingers and prey for the HEA because you feel this couple so deserve to find it. I have loved this series as well as all the add-on's by other authors, each is its own slice of pain and angst originally caused by a selfish father. All are well written, interesting with hot sex and all dealing with slightly different aspects of the same issue. Showing how it affects all the family in ways personal to them but at the same time allowing the reader to empathise and understand how this affects the whole family and the partners joining them.81 likes ·

Not bad
I liked the storyline but somehow it fell a little flat for me. It had plenty of steaming sex, a man to die for, but Ella left me cold
