I got this book for class. It has drawings and explanations that make editing easier. It is pretty wordy, but in a good way.

This is a great read, although text-booky, but really covers the history of editing, and the types of editing and how it evolved over time. I highly recommend it! Buy it, don't rent it!

A text book, not really for casual reading.

It was a gift and he loved it. He's a film major and it fit his needs as far as vocabulary perfectly.

This is a well written and well illustrated book that addresses rather summarily the history of the cut, montage, juxtaposition and is a good, quick read.

Brilliant well written book! I used this as a reference tool whilst writing my MA and it was a great help.

I bought this book for my grandson who is doing video and media at college and he said it was extremely good and in fact he found that his tutor also used it as a reference book so in that context it was perfect for him.

This book, apparently in its 5th edition, is basically about history about film editing. It basically leaves out the digital revolution... reader also does not really know difference between the editing process in 'non-digital' and current 'digital' era... This book is okay for history but not much more than this...

Excellent book providing examples to guide you through the techniques of editing. Recommended for anyone learning to edit dramatic film.
