Excellent post install access panel. Great for pump or tub access. Solid Flush closed position
What can I say but that I am very impressed with this panel. Frankly I didn't expect it to be this nice and it is a huge improvement to the metal plate that was used prior to installation.Build Quality:The plastic is fairly thick and rigid and appears very durable and break resistant. The surface is a nice scratch resistant rough matte finish (see picture 2)Unique Hinged door and 5 point supportThe door has floating hinges. When you close the door you actually push the hinge in and that inserts two additional support tabs on the same side as the hinge to give a very solid close with a total of 5 support tabs (and the two hinges) --- see last picture.Installation:You need a cutout (7th picture) 3/8th inches larger than the nominal size of the panel door. (12 3/8 x12 3/8 in my case) after a test fit I pulled the panel out a bit and traced just inside the outside of the panel and sanded down my texture. applied a liberal amount of caulk on the drywall. Made sure I had the access panel in the position I wanted (door opening directed to right or left) and pressed the door in, then wiped up any excess caulk.Final thoughts:I am very pleased with this product and highly recommend it.

Functional & Looks Better Than Hole in Sheetrock
I got this to use in my daughter's closet because there was a hole in the sheetrock to access the plumbing to the shower on the other side.We already had a hole in the wall, so I measured the largest part to see what size to order. I went w/the 18x18 because our hole was around 17" at it's biggest point. This is pretty easy to install. Just trim the hole to fit. It's not exactly 18", so measure first before cutting. Make sure to have some wall adhesive too because this panel doesn't come with any adhesive. After you dry fit the panel use a little adhesive and press it into place. Don't try opening the door on the panel until the adhesive has cured/dried.This is so much better looking than a the hole that we had originally had that was just covered with a stiff piece of plastic that I had tacked to hold in place. Now we have a functional and better looking access panel.I have to agree w/the other reviewers though. The price point jumps drastically and does seem a bit steep for a plastic panel, but often home improvement items can be costly. If you need it, then you pay for it I suppose.

Not a perfect fit, but gets the job done
I ordered this to give me an access panel behind a bathtub. I recently had the bathtub repaired by a plumber, and he needed to cut the drywall on one side to get access to the pipes. So rather than repair the drywall, I cut the hole to the size that would allow me to install this access panel. That way in the future I can just open it if any further work or repairs need to be done. Although the panel is supposed to be 18 X 18, the actual measurements of the opening are closer to 17 5/8 X 17 5/8. So keep that in mind if you plan to purchase this. Because the border around the opening is so large, you can still make it work if your opening is exactly 18 X 18. But the panel doesn't come with any adhesive or way to attach it to the wall, so you will have to take care of that part yourself. The smaller sizes of panels on this product page are a good value, but for some reason the price jumps a lot when you go above 14 X 14. For that reason I don't think the size I ordered is a good value, but the smaller sizes are.

Install this, one day you’ll be glad you did.
