This is a very nice radio for the price.
I purchased this ZHIWHIS AM FM Shortwave radio to give as a gift. Of Course, being a radio affectionada, I had to check it out before I gave it to my friend. The build quality is very good for the price. Actually, I'd say better than you would expect for the low price.I'm the radio nerd, my friend is not, but I know she wanted to listen to a particular low powered, hard to receive station. Not just any radio is going to be the right fit. It needs to be sensitive and selective on the FM band- this radio is that. It needs to be easy to tune for someone that may not know the difference between 95.3mHz and 93.5mHz. or 97.9 and 99.7. An analog dial just won't do in this area where so many stations are spaced so close together. The easily programmed memory presets are very handy. So, I am quite satisfied with the FM reception of this radio. And the audio quality is very good for such a compact radio. The AM and shortwave reception is just adequate. Local AM stations come in just fine and sound good. Distant stations, not so great. Someone who is interested in better than average AM and/or shortwave reception should look elsewhere. But this radio is still a very good choice for a handy, good quality bargain priced FM portable, this one should certainly be considered.

Reception is shaky
If you have the power cord plugged in the radio is very distorted. The alarm is beep only. No way to set to rafioo

Good Little Radio
I bought the newer version that includes Shortwave. The radio is simple to use and has very good sound for its size. All three bands work well. Of course, Shortwave reception benefitted greatly with a 23 foot reel antenna clipped to the aerial, and I received a good amount of stations that way. On AM, I received all of the stations I should have. A passive tunable loop antenna helped to bring in the more distant stuff. FM works great right out of the box. The sound quality is good for extended listening.

For the sale price, it's a buy...
Good sound quality for it's size and price, with features you normally don't see at this price point. FM reception and selectivity good, SW reception surprisingly good... AM is decent, but since you can't fine tune it, due to selectivity, wandering signals, etc..

This purchase was a mistake.
The product is good but impossible to figure out if you lose the instructions. Another problem is that getting the battery door off is impossible. For this size radio and how I use it, the sound quality is fine. I have since bought another product.

I wanted to like this model as it does everything but weak AM signals very well.
FM/SW works fine, my only issue with AM is the fact that this particular circuit design is designed to only pick up strong signal (clear channel 50Kw) stations while that's fine if that's what a listener is into, but it seems designed to ignore and create so much EMI that weak stations are essentially eliminated. It would be a fine radio if it didn't seem to discriminate against weak AM signal processing, which ironically is what DSP was designed to eliminate EMI, not make it worse.

Good compact radio
I’ve been using this radio for a few months now. Radio appears sturdy and solidly made. DSP Reception is strong and clear. The sound is crisp, not too tinny, and fairly loud and full for its single 3W (speaker) size. The design of the radio housing seems to create just enough mid-bass to make voices, instruments etc more realistic IMO. Granted, this radios assets are its size, battery life etc., not to produce huge sound. Not much experience with the shortwave, but l have been able to tune in both some domestic and foreign broadcasts. Easy to operate, LED backlight only illuminates when operating the controls, then quickly dims out which is nice, saves battery and is nice when you don’t want light. Mine came with a USB power adapter. Battery life seems good enough thus far, but a simple indicator would be nice, especially before a backcountry trip. Bluetooth would be a nice upgrade to this radio if kept at a similar price point. I would purchase again.

Nice
Nice, bought it for a homeless guy that said he wished he had an alarm clock to wake &/or alert him to move or go to food pantry or a legal place to sleep, etc. He knew of places that had an electrical outlet so the USB charging was needed. I also gave him a 120v to USB adaptor. He seemed very happy.
