Love this stuff
This is a game changer in my opinion! So much more durable than the OG spray cans. It lays down super smooth, looks great, and cures hard as a rock. Zero issues with spraying, but I did follow the directions and shook like crazy to mix the can.

Ruined my prep work.
Would not recommend at all. I followed the instructions perfectly, and it still didn't work. Other poor reviews mention a bad spray nozzle and I ran into that issue as well. It spat out a sticky, foam like texture that ruined all my prep work. I cleaned the nozzle multiple times with paint thinner trying to get it to shoot anything, and it wouldn't. Waste of money because no returns allowed. Super frustrating. Will not ever purchase another product from Car-Rep or recommend.

Good paint, good customer service
Used this paint on a project and the paint is still strong after 3 years of use and I didn't use primer. Only prep with sandpaper. 1 of the can was bad and when I reached out to the company, they took care of me. Very satisfied.

Worked for me!
I was restoring a delaminated carbon fiber roof on a BMW i3. I bought three cans of Car-Rep Epoxy in Jet Black Semigloss, knowing I was taking a chance even after reading some of these reviews. Also, I was using this product "Off-Label" by spraying over poured, sanded epoxy resin, not metal. I sprayed it in my garage where the temperature was about 78-85 degrees F. It was flawless. (Use a respirator, folks!) For my car roof, I got about two layers of coverage per can before running out and the third can was for touch-ups. I had no spitting or orange peel and even left it out in 100° F heat a day after letting it cure in the garage, with no bubbling or splitting of the paint. This epoxy paint saved me over $2000 by doing it myself, instead of taking it to a body shop, where they wanted to replace the roof. This DIY repair cost me the price of the liquid epoxy resin, plus these three cans of epoxy paint and my spare time. I might vinyl wrap the roof later, to jazz the car up a bit, but for now, this Car-Rep Epoxy Paint has done the trick. I like that it also says it's UV resistant, but time will tell if it holds up in the blazing Texas heat.

Unusable Cans - Occasional failure to spray
General review of the product. I've purchased ~24 cans of this product over time. I love the concept of the product and have used many cans successfully to completion, even partially using a can and coming back to it later to finish using the complete contents of the can. However, I have 6 cans of CarRep primer-sealer all from the same batch which when brand new and shaken, sprayed for a few seconds and then clogged. This appears to be an internal clog, not the tip or connection to the can which I cleaned with acetone. Flip over and spray, they don't clear the clog. Another can from the batch works but the finish is gritty. I've had a two other cans from different batches that 1. clogged in the same manner after a few second and then clogged and 2. clogged after partial use of the can. Again, not the spray tip or the connection to the can as these were cleaned. I've twice contacted the manufacturer by email with no response.

Doesn't spray - nozzle clogs
tl;dr sucks but would buy again if the task was appropriate. After reading the reviews, I shook the can, vigorously, for well over 3 mins before even opening the can. Of course the nozzle clogged immediately. The nozzle needed to be cleared about a dozen times through the use of the can. I removed the cap then removed the yellow tip from the cap. I used a small wire to clear out the yellow tip. The black cap itself only clogged a couple of times Thankfully, I was only using this to touch up a truck frame. The paint is obviously good quality but I wouldn't try to paint anything with this paint that needed to look flawless. If I needed to cover more area than 1 can of this paint, I would definitely just buy 2k paint and use an hvlp.

Jet Black Matte closer to semi gloss finish with orange peel and tiny splatters.
I have used all kinds of spray paints including car paints, poly, lacquer and acrylic clear coats. Nothing this bad. I could not get it to work at all. I was doing small metal parts not a car hood, but I can’t imagine using this on a larger area and having it perform satisfactorily. And I did shake it for a full 4 minutes for each attempt. Nothing matte about it, closer to semi gloss than a satin finish. Third time I tried I got not just shiny orange peel but tiny specks or splatters. See the pics. Even the pieces of concrete I used as supports came out shiny after drying! To make sure there was no dust on my concrete rocks, I rinsed, brushed and dried them before setting the clean metal pieces onto them. Has to be a better hard matte black finish out there. I called Car-rep 3 times. I misplaced an email that I was supposed to use to send pictures but when I called back the person that answers the phone had no idea what the email was and then transferred me again to a voice mailbox that does not call back. I am done.

I got to admit I was sceptical about this paint quality after reading all the negative reviews. You need to follow the instructions on the can carefully. I did not face any issue of dripping, chunk spray, or hardening with the can I got. The gloss is very good, the paint seems pretty hard. The orange peel is present in some places but I should have heated the can a bit to prevent that. As with any other aerosol paint, you need to know what you are doing, but this paint is very good so far. What I painted were chrome trims, sanded with 320 followed by adhesion promoter, 2 light coats of this paint and one wet coat

I’ll state that I run a shop and have been a tradesman for over 20 years. I have used many types of aerosol paints. Some good, some bad. THIS one is the worst. Expensive and complete garbage. Do not buy this topcoat. I used 2k primers and paints and topped it off with clear coat like anyone would do. I wanted something tougher than the others. This one stated so many things, but what they needed to state is that it cracks and chips off so easy while ruining the paint under it. I hate this stuff, I wasted money and can’t get any back because used it a few months after purchase. Don’t pay their high prices when the quality is worse than rust-oleum. You can see the thousands of fine cracks everywhere and it’s lifting along the edge. I put clear vinyl in it to keep it together.

A very good product. Love the dry time and hardness after it's dried. As advertised the 2K does mix well in the atmosphere. As I mentioned in the title the spray nozzle could be improved. The paint does accumulate on the bottom of the nozzle. Even after wiping it away it still continues to accumulate.

Used this paint to black out some chrome on my Acura MDX, baked the parts in oven at 160f for about 4 hours and came out looking great. Very smooth almost wet black finish, appears hard as a rock but time will tell if it holds up.

This spray paint was terrible. The coverage was almost translucent. The durability after a long period of curing still is subpar. To top is off, 1 of the 2 cans I bought wouldn't spray even though it was a brand new full can. What a waste of money and time. I am extremely disappointed in this product. I didn't get to my project before the return window closed otherwise I would be pursuing a refund for the defective can.
