The first time I used these, I was dismayed to find that they trim the wick practically down to the level of the wax unless you lift them up from the candle surface and just guess at where to place them on the wick. The description says the trimmer cuts the wick at 1/4”, but that isn’t how it worked for me. I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 only because the blades are sharp and do make a clean cut. I have an old ClearCut wick trimmer with a thick bottom blade that when rested on the wax will provide an exact 1/4” cut every time. Amazon does not currently offer the ClearCut brand, but I found two used ones on Etsy and ordered immediately.

I would be returning this item if I could. It is SO hard to use - super stiff hinge that won't loosen up - and doesn't trim as described in the listing. Thankful that it wasn't expensive, as it is going in the trash.

Trimming wicks can really help reduce the smoke that enters the air in your home from burning candles, and helps your candles burn more evenly and better distribute the scent. I used to be trimming my wicks with regular scissors, and I finally one day decided to give this thing a try. It is so much easier and is it really a pleasure to use. It trims the wicks very smoothly and is sharp. It is also very thick and weighty and well-made. I've even given them as gifts. Definitely give it a try!

I ordered a “black matt wick trimmer” but received a silver embossed wick trimmer instead. I was looking to put this in a themed basket with other matt black accessories so I was disappointed when I received something other than what ordered. The quality of the product seems fairly good despite not being what was described. And shipping was double the price of the wick trimmer itself.

I love this wick clipper!! Super easy to hold and use, and the length is great for taller candles. They’re pretty sharp too, so you don’t need to struggle to clip it, and once you do clip it, there’s a little part that catches the clipped wick! I would definitely recommend these to candle users everywhere :)

it's a pretty good wick trimmer. it trims the wicks and the wicks get trimmed. truly a recommended wick trimmer for trimming wicks.

Love it... does exactly what it’s supposed to. Only reason gave 4 stars is because my mom has a yankee candle brand one which is the reason I wanted one, and the yankee opens & closes smoother & holds the cut off wicks better... but is more than double the price of this one. For the price of this you can’t beat it!

Worked perfectly, good deal, aesthetically pleasing. We bought trivets to burn candles on and this wax trimmer to extend the life of our candles. Trimmer works well and was the best deal we could find on a nice looking black one. Recommended!
