These bars are great. They are just like an afternoon cup of coffee.

The Zone perfect revitalize energy bar in strawberry shortcake flavor is pretty good tasting. The first thing you taste when you bite into it is a strawberry essence that is reminiscent to me of captain crunch berries that I grew up on as a child. The label claims natural flavors, and you can definitely see what looks to be actual strawberry pieces in the bar. Either way, that flavor is definitely pleasing to the kid in me. There is a slight aftertaste, but for anyone who has eaten enough supplement bars to know, most all of them do to some degree. On a scale of acceptability, this one is definitely in the acceptable range for a supplement bar.The overall dimensions of the bar are roughly 4 inches x 1 1/2 inches x 3/4 inches so it's not incredibly big or small. It's just an average size.The nutrition on the bar could be, I suspect, better. I'm not following the Zone Perfect diet, so perhaps it is in keeping with that plan, but it has 170 calories 6g of fat 19g of carbs-12g of which are added sugars and just 11g of protein. I would have liked a lot less sugar and more protein for that caloric intake, but again, it probably conforms to the Zone perfect diet so no points held against it there.Overall, it does taste good, and I would probably eat one again on a high carb intake day, but for those watching carbs and sugar-beware. This could put you in a danger zone with the sugar.

This review is for the  ZonePerfect Revitalize Energy Bars, Strawberry Shortcake flavor . I found the texture of these bars to be a bit chalky and gritty. Also, the white frosting melts too easily at just above room temperature - making it a little annoying for an on-the-go snack. I drink one espresso every day (50-60 mg of caffeine) so I did "feel" the 50 mg of caffeine that is in this bar, but it wasn't excessive. They are very sweet, but no sweeter than most snack bars.I do not plan on buying more of this variety, but I would try something else from this brand like  ZonePerfect Nutrition Bars, Chocolate Peanut Butter .

I personally see these as more of a treat due to the sweetness. They have more sugar than I would like and a bit too sweet for me. They do taste good but it is more like a dessert for me.If you are looking for protein there are other options out there that do not have as much sugar. These do contain some protein, but not much especially considering the amount of sugar you are getting as well.I personally did not feel a boost from the green tea extract. However I am used to drinking a few cups of coffee in the morning so maybe that is why. Also, after a treat with sugar, I usually feel tired afterwards. For a boost, I would personally just rather do a cup of coffee or protein shake / protein bar.Overall these are good for me as a treat.

I read the ingredients carefully before I consume one of these things for the first time and unfortunately this particular item has a couple of questionable ingredients that I normally try to avoid in my foods. I still gave it a shot though and found that the taste is a bit too sweet and slightly artificial. Yes I did get a bit of an energy boost but it wasn't worth the questionable stuff I was putting into my body.
