... the Curious Cat Spy Club series and it's a great read. I bought it for my granddaughter
This is the 4th book in the Curious Cat Spy Club series and it's a great read. I bought it for my granddaughter, who loves the series, but had to read it first. Of course I did; I'm very fond of the series myself. It's geared toward middle grade readers and the series includes mystery, care of unusual animals, and camaraderie between three seventh graders who should not have much in common: Becca Morales, who is a popular student and into glitter and whose mother owns an animal sanctuary, Kelsey Case, keeper of secrets who wants to be a detective, and Leo Polanski, who is a super smart nerd who invents fantastic scientific inventions.Kelsey is happy that her father has finally found a job as a cook for the owner of a resort, who happens to live in a castle; with it goes a 5 bedroom "cottage" for the Case family, allowing Kelsey to keep her kitten at her house and bring her dog home from her grandmother's. And up crops several mysteries: who stole the King of the Castle's emerald chess piece? Who built the treehouse on the cottage property? And what elusive creature is roaming the grounds wreaking havoc? Each of the three lend their special talent to solve these mysteries, which doesn't come without its own danger in the castle's dungeon. This is a great series no matter what age you are!

we love the series
we love the series, this book was good-not as good as the first 2 (the mystery was shorter as the author had a lot of info to cram in in addition to the story to create a foundation for future books.

If you love animals or ever had a club when you were a kid, Curious Cat Spy Club is for you.
Book four in what will hopefully be a long series, is perhaps the best yet. Friends Kelsey, Becca, and Leo have a new mystery to solve and new animals to help. Kelsey’s dad takes on a job as chef to a rich man, and a nice house for her family goes along with it. It’s not long before Kelsey finds a tree house hidden in the backyard—a tree house where another club of young animal lovers once helped out animals in need.Kelsey catches sight of a small masked creature dashing into a hole in the tree house. Soon, she learns that the animal loves to steal bling—some of it sparkly junk jewelry and some it valuable items such as an emerald pawn. The little shadow bandit is part of a mystery that tore a family apart. Kelsey’s own family depends on her dad’s job, and that depends on Kelsey and her friends solving the mystery.Young readers who love animals, mysteries, and clubs with their friends, are sure to find the Secret of the Shadow Bandit a good read. The characters are true to themselves and the animal stories are heart-warming. The ending is both surprising and rewarding. Give it a try, or better yet start with book one and work your way forward! Your very own young reader will thank you!Connie Goldsmith
