Loved the Hero, Too Quick a Resolution
FINAL DECISION: This story was nice, but the quick resolution to the book long conflict left me feeling unsatisfied. I enjoyed the romance a great deal and the "weakness" of the hero was well done and emotional.THE STORY: Warren Corry, Marquess of Knightford has been asked by his sister to help her friend who has been behaving strangely. Warren is part of the St. George Club where men who care about the women in their lives can find out information to protect them from scoundrels. Warren fears that Miss Delia Trevor is in trouble and is determined to find out her secrets. While chasing her secrets, Warren ends up at a gambling hell chasing a man who is a potential threat to Delia. Warren is shocked to discover this man is actually Delia in disguise. Delia is looking for the card cheat responsible for her father's death. Disguised as a young man, she has been searching gaming hell for the man. When Warren discovers her secret, Delia doesn't know if Warren intends to ruin her or help her.OPINION: The undeniable strength of this book is Warren, himself. His struggles and his shame about them are the most compelling part of the book. Warren is a good man who has demons which he believes will keep him alone. He spends the nights carousing because he cannot bear to be alone. When he begins to fall for Delia, he fights because he believes that he cannot have a normal relationship with her. The pain Warren feels and his journey to trust and happiness with Delia is what I loved about this book. I can't resist a wounded hero and I really liked Warren.Delia was practical and a bit stubborn but her character made her a good match for Warren because she would not allow him to hide from her. Her strength allows him to lean on her when he needs it. She is too loyal to her lousy brother, but her loyalty and determination is a deep part of her character.I liked so much about this story, but what I didn't like was the resolution to Delia's search for the man who cheated her brother. The end had promise and was a surprise but after the reveal, the problem was quickly resolved without emotional drama that I expected. Things were revealed, and the solution was too neat and resolved within only a few pages. Considering that this was such a motivating factor in the book, I found it anticlimactic and a disappointment. For me, it colored my enjoyment of the rest of the book and resulted in me downgrading my rating.WORTH MENTIONING: I hope the next story is about Delia's sister in law.CONNECTED BOOKS: THE DANGER OF DESIRE is the third book in the Sinful Suitors series. It can be read as a standalone although there are overlapping characters.STAR RATING: I give this book 3.5 stars.NOTE: I received a copy of this book via Netgalley in order to provide a review. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions contained herein are my own.

Spunky Heroine and Rogue Hero
When Warren's cousin asks him to keep an eye on Miss Delia Trevor, who always seems to be running off and keeping secrets, he reluctantly agrees. But as soon as he meets Delia for the first time, everything changes. She's not what he expected and because of her sharp wit and air of mystery, he's instantly attracted to her. But as soon as Warren begins to dig deeper into Delia's past, the more he discovers that she's putting her reputation and life in danger. Delia's brother committed suicide after gambling away everything, and she wants to find the man who cheated her brother and make him pay. But all she has to go off of is her brother's description of the cheater being a part of the aristocracy and having a sun tattoo on his forearm. So Delia disguises herself as a man and frequents a gambling den late during several nights so she can try to find the man her brother described. But Warren ruins her plans because he keeps getting in her way and threatening to reveal her if she doesn't stop her foolishness. And there's something about Warren that makes Delia want things she's never wanted before. Will Delia be able to get her revenge without losing her heart in the process? The Danger of Desire begins at a ball where Warren's cousin asks him to watch over Miss Delia. Because of her own experiences with men, she wants to make sure Delia doesn't fall victim to any fortune hunters. But Delia is more than aware of what men are capable of, and has no desire to fall victim to anyone or to ever marry. Delia is witty and sarcastic and every scene that includes both Delia and Warren was a delight to read. Even their first meeting when they discuss being left handed was humorous and I could instantly feel the connection between them. Warren is surprised that Delia wants nothing to do with marriage, and that of course intrigues him even more. Warren is the typical rogue featured in most historical romance novels. He drinks, gambles, and sleeps with several women, never planning on settling down. And even though this character has been written so many times, I thought Sabrina Jeffries made Warren fresh because of his own internal struggles that have to do with his past and the face that he has ideas of what is right and wrong. For example, the reason he agrees to watch over Delia in the first place is because he wants to make sure no man takes advantage of her. So even though Warren is a rogue, he also has a kind side, and I thought Sabrina Jeffries created Warren with the perfect mix of both.I genuinely loved this novel until half way through the story, because the story and the characters seemed to fall apart at that point. I felt as if Warren and Delia became less of themselves in the sense that they lost all aspect of what their beliefs were and who they were. Their characters became weaker and I didn't enjoy the relationship as much as I liked it at the beginning.Overall, I would definitely recommend The Danger of Desire to anyone looking for a fun historical romance novel that features a spunky heroine and a roguish hero.

Unrepentant Rake, Stub
This book takes you on a roller coaster ride of all emotions. I loved our heroine, especially in her darkest moment when she could have gone one way - justifiably so, but did something completely unexpected instead. She is strong and loyal and determined to do things her way. Our hero is almost an Anti-hero at first (Ms. Jeffries is so good at these bad boy unrepentant rakes that end up melting your heart is the most delightful ways) but as his story develops you find out that he is the most delightful, if stubborn man that is pron to fixing his family's problems, even if they don't need him to fix them, because he is a Duke, and that is what he was told he is supposed to do. Can he learn to let things go and let the people around him fix their own issues? Can our heroine tear down the walls around his heart and find the good man underneath? This five star read will melt your heart, make you laugh and have tears pouring out of your eyes in no time. A must read if you have read any of her books, and if not, a great place to start.

Second time reading
I just finished the book, I have it as a paperback. And went to review it here....where it says I already own it! I thought the story was super familiar! Anyways, I loved Warren, especially near the end of the book...no spoilers. I also thought Delia, who was steadfast in her desire to make the world right for her sister in law and nephew. Even if it means being a little reckless...

Disappointed with the solution!
What I liked about this novel was that the Heroine and Hero characters are so realistic - Delia goes to all lengths to find the cause of her brother's death as well as try to restore the money back into her nephew's inheritance - Warren has suffered traumatic experiences and has a form of what we probably call PTSD - both of these characters come together into a truly romantic drama but although I liked the plot, I felt cheated by the solution to the problem that the author settled on - it is possible to have a a a few bad people in the story - you don't have to bring a wholesome person in making an incorrect judgement that will be a new character into a future novel in the series - I found this to be too uninspired to the drama of the rest of the story
